SOURCE: wiring diagram

I don't have an answer to this problem and I agree with the "WIZ" this amp is not very great. I would however like to fix mine.

could you do me a favor and unscrew the plate on the bottom of the amp (four screws) and look at the colored bands on R 10 so i can replace that resistor? All you have to do is e-mail them to me. It would really help me out.

Thank you.

I have 2 different subs in one box, a 12" MTX thunder and a 12" Kicker CVR. the kicker is a dual voice coil while the MTX I dont believe is. Can I use one amp for this set up? And how would it be wired?

im guessing both speakers are 4 ohms ..mtx 4ohms and kicker dual 4ohms..now if your amp can go down to 1 ohm wiring the kicker dual coils in parallel (2ohms) and the mtx connected together (4ohms) should leave you with a final impedance between 1 and 2 ohms ...i suggest you use one or get another

What is Positive and what is Negative

Hi Mason.
Are the positions colour coded in any way?
Red = Positive
Black = Negative
I've looked at some photo's from the website and at a guess I would say that yours are the push on crimp types, so no colour markings.
Have a look at the pdf wiring diagram they supply here as it may shed some light on things:
MTX Thunder US-XT12-44
I've looked over loads of forums but none seem to mention the wiring of these subs.
Understandably you want to get this right as they are a very nice set of subs when they're up and running.
If all else fails try looking at the MTX contact list and ringing one of their supported dealers for more info.

Mike

Need proper wiring details.

This is a dual 4 ohm sub. By wiring the terminals in series (one set of + to - from one side to the other) you will have an 8 ohm sub (most folks probably don't want this). By wiring in parallel (+ to + and - to - and connect the - wire to the - terminal on your amp and the + wire to the + terminal on your amp you'll have a 2 ohm sub.

Ground Wire Hook-up

MTX has the hookup diagram here: http://www.mtx.com/caraudio/products/manualsQuickInstall/amps/RTP251D_InstallSheet.pdf If you have the original wiring harness, the ground wire is normally black. The amplifier case or chassis is ground connnected on amps I've seen as well.

MTX 502 2 chanel amp Pre amp problem?

Unless your amp is 1 (one) ohm stable then you may have fried it. When you attach a 2 ohm load across a bridged amp then you have effectivly placed each output channel on a 1 ohm load. Not a good thing in most cases. Try hooking up ONE speaker on one channel and one input to that one channel one at a time. Then switch the speaker/input to the other channel and see if you can get either or both channels to work independently. Needless to say you must turn the amp off before you make ANY change in the wiring.

Rt 202 led light red and no sound

With the system turned off, disconnect the speaker wires from the amplifier. Turn on the system. If the light stays red, then the amplifier has an internal problem. If the light turns green, then your problem is a blown speaker, or a speaker wiring issue.
