I have an htc inspire and the touchscreen stopped working/ is frozen, how do I get it to respond or will I have to replace the touchscreen?

Please follow the following procedure to hard reset ( factory reset ) the phone . If that does not help Please take it to a authorized service center .
  1. Turn the power off. If your HTC Inspire 4G is frozen, pull the battery out and reinsert it
  2. Hold the Volume Down button
  3. Press and hold the Power button until the device turns on
  4. You are now presented with a menu that allows for Fastbook, Recovery, Clear Storage, and Simlock
  5. Select Clear Storage by pressing the Volume Down button
  6. Press and release the Power button
  7. Now simply confirm your decision: Volume Up for YES and Volume Downfor NO

All data including third-party applications will be deleted from the HTC Inspire 4G. Once the wipe is complete, the phone will reboot to its factory fresh state.

The touchscreen us not working at all, the other buttons work

Hello

Do not put lotion on your hands and do not touch the screen if your hands are wet. Any kind of moisture can affect the way the touchscreen operates. Moisture sometimes slows the response time from the screen to the operating system.

Check for a protective sheet on the screen. If there is some kind of a film or sheet on the touchscreen, the screen is likely not able to react to all of the sensitivities of the touch of a finger as it normally would.

If there is an application open and the touchscreen seems to not be working, simply close the application and retry it. A frozen application can usually be closed by pressing and holding on the circular button located just below the touchscreen.

Completely reset the phone by holding the "Home" button and the "Reset" button for a full 10 seconds until the phone resets.

My phone isnt picking up the sense to touchscreen, everyone in my family has tried to unlock my phone but the touchscreen doesnt pick up a sense, and its just frozen it will power off and turn back on...

A friend of mine had this same problem with an LG Ally. Eventually he had to remove the battery from the phone and replace it before the screen would respond. Some other things to try if that doesn't work:
  • Remove any screen protector you may have put on the phone. It is rare, but sometimes these can interfere with touchscreens of certain types
  • Reset the phone to the factory defaults (steps below):
  1. Turn the power off.
  2. Press and hold: Home Key + Power Key + Up or Down Volume Key.
  3. Turn the power on, while keeping the three keys pressed.
  4. When the LG logo is shown, release the keys.
  • Failing the above, I would return the phone to the retailer from which it was purchased. It's possible that the touchscreen is simply flawed.

Garmin nuvi 660 froze up.

This is not caused by an update. Please check your unit's serial # to see if it starts with a "12P", "14V" or "143". If so, these units have a specific touchscreen that can fail even without physical damage to the glass or screen. The only way to resolve it is to replace the touchscreen & glass. You will not lose any of your data. The unit is not frozen and you can verify it by quickly pressing the on/off button. If you hear a beep, it's not locked up. You touchscreen has failed and won't accept any input. Please see this link:
