Most likely the igniter is not working at 100% and the gas valve won't open unless it is at 100%. Replace the igniter first.

SOURCE: KENMORE GAS STOVE OVEN LOWER BURNER WON'T WORK

First look to see if the ignitor is coming on. Most common problem is the ignitor is weak or just bad. When the power is applied to the ignitor it glows and builds up resistance to open the gas valve then it lights. If the ignitor is weak or bad it will not build up enough resistance for gas to come into the burner. One sign of this would be a "woosh" sound when it trys to light. If the ignitor is coming on but not lighting it is most likely the ignitor is bad. Should have a full glow. Also, if the ignitor looks whiteish in color this is a sign of it going bad. You can compare to the broil ignitor to be sure. If the ignitor doesn't come on at all will need to see if you have power to the ignitor. Let me know what you find and let's solve it before you rate the solution.

SOURCE: Oven burner pulsates

The gas regulator valve would also be my first guess. It seems to not be allowing enough gas into the system. When the top is on, only a small amount of fuel is required, and when properly mixed with the air all is well, but when you also put on the oven, the regulator won't allow enough gas into the system, so it's "burning lean". I'd get it fixed before it pulsates so bad that it actually blows out the flames and you're left with a propane smelling dangerous house.

SOURCE: My Kenmore gas oven does not light.

Remove the oven Racks. Remove the oven base plate. Turn the oven on. You can then see the oven ignitor next to the oven burner. If the oven ignitor does not glow a bright orange, replace it. About a $90 part.

SOURCE: My Kenmore gas stove has a light constant smell of

There is a problem with the regulator or the thermal bulb you need to call a repairman in to replace it, if you have a gas smell it is allowing the piolet light to have gas comming out and not lighting this is DANGROUS do not put it off get it looked at right away. This can kill you.

The wall behind my propane oven is black, why?

possibly the air shutters were not adjusted when new for propane use, most units come set-up to burl natural gas but need conversion to burn l.p. gas by changing the orfices on the top burners, then turning the orfice spuds down on the bake and broil orfices as to control the flow of a heavier gas and also opening the air shutters on these venturi gas feed tubes next to these orfices

My Viking oven will not lite, the igniter glows, but it will not lite. I have to turn on the 4 stove top burners and then it will lite. Also, when the oven reaches temperature and the therastat shuts it...

Hi,
That sounds like you have too high of gas pressure which keeps the oven gas valve from opening...turning on the burners lowers the gas pressure enough to allow the gas valve to open. this is a saftey feature on many gas valves.
To stop that you will need to install a gas pressure regulator which will hold back the gas pressure so the valve can open.

Here is a tip that I wrote about regulators and them failing on the low side, but it will give you and idea what I am talking about and what you need to install in the line to your range.

Kenmore gas oven does not reach operating temperature

If your oven is 20 years old the temperature sensor system might no longer be accurate, if you have access to a temperature measuring device that can confirm that the oven is not reaching 350 then run it up and check that its not just your indicator light system. Some oven burners have air control and yours may have accumulated oven soil over the years. If your burner. Is behind a short wall like mine is, use a mirror and torch to check. A clean can bring things back to standard. Flame heat is from a good mix of. Gas and Air...

I have a kenmore gas range with electric ignitors. My question is that my stove top doesnt ignite but lets gas by and I can use a lighter to lite them. However my oven doesn't do anything...no gas no...

Electric gas igniters sometimes get stuck in one position causing a clicking sound. The clicking sound that you hear is the electric arc that is pulsing from the igniter conductor (wire) to ground (the gas burner). It receives power from the electrical outlet that the stove is plugged into.
Residue from food and sometimes cleaning products may be preventing the igniter from producing a spark (Arc) to the base of the burner. This is a common problem that occurs when the stove has been cleaned or food is allowed to build up. Make sure that the igniter and the burner base are clean and dry. This will help with proper operation. Oven cleaner and a small tooth brush may be used to accomplish this. Another problem with ignition may occur if you have too little (touching) or too much space between the igniter and the base of the burner; it will prevent the burner from igniting. You should only have a little more space than the thickness of a nickel between the burner base and the igniter. A good “blue” arc from the igniter to the burner base is optimal. If this doesn’t work, you may need to replace the electric igniter module. Good luck.
