COMPAQ PRESARIO WON'T BOOT FROM CD

Hello, you are experiencing this because of the Boot priority setting in your bios. Your computer has been set to boot from your hard disk first and so it will never try to boot from a CD when it starts. There are 2 ways to fix this:
1. Go into your bios (usually by pressing F2, F10 or Delete key as your computer starts) and set the boot priority to check CD or optical drives first. Consult your PC manual if necessary.
2. Press F12 when your computer starts, this will bring up a menu to select boot options. Choose your CD drive.
Thanks for using FixYa

Tosheiba laptop vista recovery disk won't load. I put image files on c drive try to start try to ruin tosimagex new errors

Hi! Welcome to www.fixya.com.
What you have to do is to change the boot sequence on boot option. Restart pc then hit f2 go to boot option and choose DVD/CD to be your first boot option then press f10 restart and it should load automatically. Check your recovery if its running on other pc. If not. call your manufacturer and get a new recovery disc.
Hope this resolution fix the problem on your computer. Thanks for contacting Fixya. Bye for now.

What button do i hit at start up to reformat the hard drive on a compaq presario 700

Hi purple7558

did you mean format the hard disk and then install the operating system.?
press F10 to enter the bios setup, then set the boot sequence to cd rom first.
insert your windows cd into the cd rom.
save settings and restart. after the computer restarts it will detect that you enter cd then press enter.
the next process is the usual kind of format and install your operating system.

thanks&regards

How do i reformat my compaq presario?

There are two options to do it. 1.Go to BIOS first by pressing F10 while booting the notebook. 2. Choose the option ?Boot From CD? i.e. change the boot order. 3. Now Insert the Operating system CD in the drive. 4.Follow onscreen instruction. 5. It will ask to format the HDD or to install windows. 6. Choose format and follow onscreen instructions. Or please check this doc from HP on restoring the notebook to factory image. http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c00034787&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN If this works then please vote for me.

My Acer Aspire 6930 wont boot past the microsoft corporation screen. The computer wont even boot in safe mode. Are there any solutions for this?

Try system restore. During the boot sequence press F11 and follow the instructions. If it fails, try with your installation disk.

Can't open the BIOS

try disconnecting all of the likely boot sequence options (HD, CD drive, etc.) then see if you can get into the bios. What are you trying to boot to/from?

Computer shows invalid system disc, wont let me do anything else

This might be simple.
Assuming your son didn't make any internal changes to your computer. The problem may be that he changed your boot sequence to boot to floppy or CD instead of the Hard Drive.
Do the following:

As your computer is starting you will briefly have the option to hit F8 (I think F8 Might be another) for "start up menu or options".
This will take you to a screen of text where following the on screen text areas and moving the curser with the keyboard arrows and enter or escape check your boot sequence (the order of where your computer is to look for start up information)

It should read as follows:
#1 HDD1 (this text may vary)
#2 CDROM drive
#3 FLOPPY (if you have one) or other removable drive

If your son changed this and forgot to it back your computer may be trying to get start up information from a CD or Floppy instead of your hard drive.

Once you've changed this (assuming you needed to change it) following the instructions use the key to "save changes and exit"
Your computer should now boot up correctly.

Let me know if this helps

XP wont be able to detect your hdd as you are using a SATA drive. You have two options here

1. Disable SATA function in the bios (easier to do) and use again your XP cd to install the software, it should be able to detect the hdd this time around

2. You have to slip stream the SATA driver to your XP CD and recreate another CD from it. (harder to do). Google "SATA driver slipstream XP" you will be directed to the proper sites
