A cloth belt got wrapped around the roll and after taking the roll off and getting the belt off of it, now the roll won't turn when I turn the vacuum on.

Install new belt. You'll have to remove the botton cover and the remove the brush cylinder and install new bell. What happen when the brush cylinder stop because of the colth belt, it stripped the rubber kogs off the belt. The only thing that turns on your Dyson is the motor. GB...stewbison

Belts continually break even after being replaced over and over

The belt will burn out if there is an obstruction to the rotation of the beater cylinder. Check to make sure the ends of the cylinder are not covered with dust and hair as this is the most common cause of early belt failure.

Model, 116.c85pbpk0v022 Power-Mate Jr. attachment stopped working, could it be a part within the unit (i.e. the electrical component) or do I need to replace the unit? How do I troubleshoot the electrical...

This model frequently stops because, lint, hair, etc. gets caught between the two end pieces of the brush cylinder. Do the following to fix it:

1) Remove the two Philips screws from the underside of the unit.
2) The side with the tag will then flip forward. Do not turn the unit over or a few parts fall out. It's not terrible if they come out but it is a little more trouble to reassemble.
3) Lift the brush cylinder out of its cradle and remove the belt.
4) Pull one end cap off the cylinder using a pair of pliers at both ends of the cylinder.
5) There is a steel rod in the center. Slide it out of the cylinder. The debris will be under the end caps wrapped around the rod.
6) Remove the debris.
7) Put the rod back through the cylinder.
8) Press the end cap that was removed back on the splined rod making sure both ends are in line with each other.
9) Slide the belt over the cylinder. The cylinder only goes on one way. The end with no bristles is where the belt goes.
10) Place the cylinder back in its cradle. You will need to stretch the belt slightly to do this step.
11) Hinge the cover back on and install the two screws. Unit should now work.

Hope it helps somebody.

Simplicity freedom vacuum has a burnt rubber smell

If the belt is continually wearing out I would think that the brush cylinder is not free to rotate. Take the belt off and ensure that the brush cylinder moves freely. If is does not, then you need to investigate why - probably something wound round it that has jammed it.

Are you smelling a burnt rubber smell? If you are, you need to replace your belt. You can get hoover replacement belts here:

Check the cylinder with brushes does not have hair or carpet fibers causing it to bind. With the belt removed the brush should turn freely and fairly easy. The original belt probably broke because of this. You may have to fully dis-assemble the head of the vacuum to clean the entire brush assembly.
