Sounds like compressor is over heating, may be dirty around it reducing cooling air or it could be the compressor is going bad

SOURCE: LG refrigerator lrsc26944tt error code ER FF

I'm no major appliance repairman. However, after reading several posts, I investigated the issue further since I received an ER FF on the front panel. I have a LFX25960SW refrigerator. I pulled the top and bottom baskets out, and was able to take the back panel out from inside. There was a solid block of ice built up around both fans and wires. I took a blow dryer and gradually melted the ice around the fans and wires. Then, as I was able, I pulled the remaining ice chunks off of the wires. I put the thing back together and it cleared the message. My wife says no more LG appliances for us. :)

Freezer chest not cooling but Compressor is running

Unless you have a microfarad capacitor meter, you won't be able to check the capacitor. Make sure the evaporator fan motor is running. You may be low on refrigerant.

Hotpoint future freezer red light stays on and motor makes buzz noise every few mins but only for about two seconds.

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly. Your hearing the compressor Thermal overload cycle every few minutes for no more than 45 seconds. The compressor is not starting at all or it is not cycling from the start winding to the run winding so the KliXon thermal overload is tripping. That switching of windings is done by the PTC relay mounted on the side of the compressor. The Compresor part number is EMY32CLC. PTC relays can be found here:
http://www.europart.co.uk/s.nl/sc.2/category.690082/.f You will have to match your relay to the image.

I would recommend using the phone locally to purchase the relay AFTER performing the following.
POWER OFF / Unplugged WAIT 30 minutes for the compressor to cool and the coolant pressures to stabilize. After 30 minutes plug in the unit and see if the compressor starts.

POWER OFF / Unplugged
IF after 30 minutes the compressor does not restart....
1. Read the pins of the compressor to the case of the compressor. No grounds allowed.
2. Read pin 1 to pin 2 (on 2 pin compressor) you should read resistance.
3. If you have a 3 pin compressor only 2 of the 3 pins will read to each other at any given time. One for start winding and one for run winding with 3rd pin being common.

A locked compressor rotor/armature will also cause the compressor not to start. A locked rotor requires compressor replacement. (Fingers crossed lets hope that the rotor is not locked!)

Hopefully your unit will restart. A momentary loss of power will cause a compressor to hot cycle and not restart. All it takes is about a 8 second power loss to put the compressor into this no start frenzy. Do the 30 min no power thing and see what happens. (maybe save your self lots of money.)

Thanks for choosing FixYa,

Kelly

Compressor starts then stops after maybe 3 mins

Any error codes? If not there may be a mechanical fault with the compressor/inverter. The unit is possibly short on refrigerant, so the compressor is not getting enough suction cooling from return gas, so may be clicking off on its internal over temp klixon.

The refrigerator and freezer are not getting cold but I can hear the motor running.

Hello there:
If the compressor is running and you can hear it than you are going to have the refrigerant recharged in the unit.
If you continue to run the unit without refrigerant you will end up with the compressor quitting and this you do not want ok?
I hope this has been very helpful for you ok?

Error code E39 for Mitsubishi Heavy Industry Ceiling cassett type

E39 Fault is thermister, Mitsubishi way of saying im not going to start because there is something wrong. Generlly it is compressor fault or short of gas. Im guessing if you turned the power out. Waited twenty seconds, turn it back on. Now if you go to the outdoor part. Wait exactly 3 mins. If you hear the compressor try to start and fail then it would more then likely be your compressor if you dont hear anything and the unit faults out it will either be a board or short of gas.

Either way If the unit is under five years old get a warrenty agent out to look at it.

Sorry I couldnt tell you for sure but MHI are very vague when it comes to fault codes

Press Display on

then press and hold Max Frz and Display off, you should hear 3 beeps and the compressor should start.

It may also be that when you turned the unit off you hit the showroom switch that is located up behind the top grill, the power off switch is also in here.

The easy way to tell the difference is see which one turns the lights off, the showroom switch will not affect the lights.

With the lights on switch the other switch and leave it for 6 mins to see if the compressor, if not repeat.
