If the picture is OK then check your sound cables, red and white if analog, or swap out the HDMI cable with one that you know works.
Also, on the SETTINGS screen make sure your audio is set to stereo not surround sound.
Have you checked the sound driver? Does the sound work with headphones? If the sound driver is correct and working there will be, when checking the sound mixer, moveable virtual slider controls. If it works on headphones, the headphone socket may be faulty. The likelyhood of no sound due to a power problem is not very high.

Well, the short answer to your question is "No, it won't work". The Dell Dimension 4600 does not have any PCI Express slots in it, therefore you can't install it, and therefore it won't work. But, if you installed a PCI sound card, it would work. The BIOS would recognize the add-on sound card, disable the onboard sound, and your sound will start going through the expansion card instead. Hope this helps.
Ted, the first thing you should do is go into your computer's BIOS and disable the built-in sound card. Once you do that, go back to your device manager and if the onboard sound card still appears there remove or disable it. Then reboot and your new sound card should be recognized and you can install drivers and begin using it.
