SOURCE: I need to replace battery

Not for the feint hearted. Probably comes out the top instead of the back, take it to a watchmaker. (not a store clerk or sales person)

I haven't, but it isn't unknown for a watch battery to leak and it isn't unknown for the breath of the person changing a battery to create condensation that gets trapped inside. Dust and dirt too can gain access while the back is removed.
Or, it can be just coincidence.

Received the Tommy Bahama Islander watch Model 3025 as a retirement gift from employer- had 4 days - worked for 2 then stopped (at the same time) for 2 days in a row. I've read the book that came with the...

MY suggestion would be to take to a local jeweler/watchmaker to see if its the battery. They should have a battery tester to check to see if that is the case. Probably is.
If its NOT the battery, it seems like its defective and I would start inquiring where they bought the watch. I know. Tricky, because it was a gift, but well, they would want to know too
Good luck and let me know if that helps!!! J
