Why dont my laptop want to open windows?. at one stage it said to me that there is some files missing. plse help

If your Computer is out of warranty, pull out your windows cd that came with the computer,and re-start the computer, with the cd in. You must select repair computer, it will run a scan to find your HDD,( note the drive letter )and scroll down to the command prompt. From there type the drive letter followed buy a :\ hit enter... then type
sfc /scannow /offbootdir=d:\ /offwindir=d:\windows
This will anylize your windows and repair missing or corrupted files.

you have to copy the isapnp.sys file from the original cd or else from any other laptop to start up your windows correctly.

u cannot save driver files to re-install them again...u will need the original driver exe/install files from the CDs or from the mfg website of the hardware that's installed in the machine.
for reformating the disk my website will be of some help....if u r familier with dong the formating then u can do it else u need to ask someone who is expert in that job.

some of your operating system files is missing/corrupt, that's why the main windows cannot open/load.

You will need to repair your windows operating system (win xp/vista), in other to solve this problem.

To repair your windows, you will be needing a windows operating system CD, insert it into your player and run setup. While you are installing, it will get to a stage where the system will ask you if you want to restore, click restore and the missing/corrupt files will be reinstalled.

You can do it without using the cd, but you'll need another PC which is running properly with the same operating system. What you need to do is just copy the particular missing file and paste it in your hardrive windows system32 directory using command prompt, or you can connect your hardisk to another pc and copy/paste it.. Without the cd there isn't much you can do. Unless you can find one you'll have to hope your laptop has a system restore option but you would also risk losing all your data doing so.

I doubt you can get to safe mode, but give try safe mode with command prompt and type chkdsk in the cmd window.

You got a bad disk

Get an external hard drive.
Reboot and Cancel the disk check for you to log-in to Windows.
Back-up all important data.

Once data is safe, open My Computer and right-click on you C: drive then choose Properties.
Click on the Tools tab and click the Error Checking button then select all options and follow on-screen instructions.

get the 98 start up floppy and stick it in the a:/

Copy command.com, or anything else missing to your c:/ from the floppy. type help/? at the c:/ and you should find the proper format for the version of DOS you have.
