My CANON PIXMA MP530 is showing the alarm, "Document in ADF."

We recently moved and when I plugged in my Canon PIXMA MP530 printer, an alarm came on that said "Document in ADF. Press (OK)." I did and then it says, "Clearing Document" and then it makes a noise like it's doing something and then it goes back to saying "Document in ADF. Press (OK)." I am afraid that something happened to the printer in the move...how can I fix this?! And please don't just tell me to take it to a repair shop because I really don't have the money for that right now...PLEASE HELP!!!

Open the top cover of the ADF and look for a rectangular hole with a lever stuck down. That lever should only go down when a paper is placed in the feeder, and sometimes they get stuck in the down position. A bent paper clip might help you lift it gently...

Canon pixma mx410 document in adf has paper inside

The Alarm light was always on and the screen said "Document in ADF. When I pressed "OK" it would read "Eject the document". ..............................solution, Lift the cover to expose the flat bed scanner glass. Under the cover, there is a long white bar with two white tabs perpendicular to the white bar. One of the tabs was retracted. Pull on the tab until it is fully extended. The alarm turns off and there is no longer the error. Simple solution .....................................THIS WORKS!!!!!!!! thank you

disconnect it from power for 10 minutes and also check for jammed paper. That should do the trick

Documents will not feed from the ADF

Is there a more permanent fix in the meantime? I'm just tired of fiddling each time that I use the ADF

Document in adf

It's indicating that the sensor in the top of the scanner has been triggered.

Try opening the document feeder tray on top of the printer lid and them gently open the grey cover that covers the scanner workings.

You will probably find some paper or something holding the sensor in the "document loaded" position
