If it doesn't continue to show the license and owner screen, it means that the TomTom (navigation) software is not running properly. Often it means that the software is corrupt, and it has to be repaired or replaced.

If you are able to connect the TomTom device to a computer (using the USB port), select the TomTom disk, right click and select Properties, and run the TOOLs to check and repair the (TomTom) disk. After completing the repair, disconnect it (from the computer), restart the TomTom - turn it off and turn it back on, and see if you get it going normally. If not, you'll need to restore your navigation software from your backup and see if it works. Or you can download the navigation software from the TomTom website and copy it onto your GPS device.

How do i find where i am on tomtom go 5000

When you have your TomTom device on, and it shows a map (of where you are ... assuming you've got the satellite signals ), your location is indicated by the arrow-head "triangle" symbol (or a "car" (symbol) on the navigation/guidance view.
If you need to mark your location (or save your location - as a Favorite in My Places), press and hold to select the location, select the pop-up menu button and select "Add to My Places"

Tomtom One 130 shows pic of Tomtom, flashing x, pie chart icon on left after using Tomtom Home.

TomTom Home must have corrupted the TomTom's operating system. That is what that symbol means. Contact TomTom support and tell them what model you have and they will walk you through getting the correct version installed.

TomTom device frozen

If your device freezes at the start-up screen after you turn it on or your device is looping, the TomTom application may not be installed properly.

See some examples of start-up screens here. The image may vary on previous TomTom devices or if you have replaced the image.

Before you begin, make sure you have TomTom HOME installed on your computer (www.tomtom.com/home ).

To solve this, follow the steps below.
Remove the current application

1. Connect your device to your computer using the USB cable or dock.
2. Reset your device.
3. Turn on your device by pressing the power button for 5 seconds.
  • Your device should automatically connect to the computer upon reset. If your TomTom device asks you if you want to connect to your computer, tap YES.

4. Run TomTom HOME.
5. In the Main Menu of HOME click on Remove items from my device.
remove_items_from_my_device_uk.gif 6. Click on the plus symbol homeplus.gif next to Applications. Click in the checkbox on the right to select the application.
7. You will be prompted to confirm the selection, choose Yes.
8. Click on Remove selected items.
2352_08.gif 9. Choose OK.
10. You will be asked to copy the item to your computer before removing, do not copy the item. Instead, choose Back.
The application will then be removed.

Reinstall the TomTom application:
1. Start TomTom HOME.
2a. If you previously updated your device on this computer, click Add Maps, Traffic, Voices etc. and then click Items on my computer.
You can install the application by clicking the plus symbol homeplus.jpg and then Add.

TomTom one

Its more than likely that the data on your SD card has become corrupt or the card itself has become damaged / faulty. This can cause the tomtom to feeze on startup and doesn't even get past the loading process. You can "half" prove this by turning the tomtom ON without the SD card inserted. If you get the startup drums then a ' please insert SD card ' symbol on the screen , The card IS FAULTY . good luck. .................Hopefully , you backed up your SD card to your PC some time ago. If this is the case , you can just reload the files onto your SD card.

Blank screen

Reset the unit by pushing a bent paperclip or pin into the hole on the bottom marked 'reset' turn it back on, plug it in & charge it via USB overnight or as long as you can in the car, make sure the led on the top is green, tap the bottom right of the screen & check the battery symbol on the unit says charging underneath.

If this doesn't help.

If its NEW take it back!

or
contact tomtom about the problem...
