Interior lights work. but not compresssor

Mod. R47 gas RV fridge 1973. It lights and gets cold (sometimes below freezing in the bottom of frige) then it starts to warm up above 55, but the flame is still burning high. I try to turn it down with the fridge thremostate and it stays the same. Is it the thermostate? If so where can I order one?

Unplug and look for the thermostat control. Try jumping the thermostat wires together. If it runs then replace the thermostat. Also feel the compressor to see if running, they run very silently. Thanks, Sea Breeze

I got mine in 2005. It stopped working 4 or 5 weeks ago. It made a clicking noise and the compressor was very hot. Compressor is under warranty but appliance repair shop wanted $125 to install it and another $75 to charge it with freon. I saw a posting somewhere else that said it was a relay switch. I ordered one from RepairClinic.com for $24.00 incl. shipping, put it in and it's working now. There's a black plastic housing on the left side of the compressor. Just unscrew that, pop the cover off (that was a little tricky) and plug in the new part. Maybe I'll get another 3 years out of it.

You have either a bad capacitor or a bad compressor. If I were there I would put a part on called a 3 in 1. It's made by Supco. It replaces your relay Overload and start capacitor. If the compressor is good, it will fix your problem. Click on this site and you will see the part I'm talking about.
