My Wireless internet card don't work

Hie,
I am a Malawian (Central Africa) Boy age 19. I bought a second hand Toshiba Satelite A60_Pentium 4 from a dealer who happened to be an ICT expert. He told me the PC have a built in wireless internet card but since I bought it from him it never attracted signal from a broadband. He told me I have to but an external moderm which I did (light wave fax moderm) but the problem still persisted. Does it mean he removed the card or such PC don't have the facility. Pliz assist.

I think you are a little confused, your laptop may have a wireless card internally, but you need a wireless broadband or cable router for the wireless adapter to pick up a signal.

A fax modem cannot be wireless and cannot be broadband as you cannot fax using a broadband connection.

Assuming you have a broadband connection you will need a wireless modem/ router or roter connected to a broadband modem, not a standard 56k dialup modem as they aren't wireless or broadband.

No wireless con on my a60

Make sure wireless is on.
Make sure the network is visable or you have the hidden SSID.
Make a connection to the network using the correct encryption method (WPA, WEP, etc.) and correct password.
Make sure wireless access point is connected to the Internet or you will be limited to only accessing systems on the local network.
Good luck!

Toshiba satellite a60-111 wireless cannot activate either by switch of key function

http://209.167.114.38/support/Download/files_downloads/PSA60C/SA60EXUM.PDF

on page 4-29 (or 106 of the pdf) is where it talks about wireless. However on page 2-9 it talks about an orange glow to know your function is turned on. review the above manual and store for the future as I don't know who provides it.

Battery not charging

Rechargeable batteies have a finite number of charge and discharge cycles. Over the life of the battery (over 2 or more years old) it will degrade and its charge capacity will be reduced as the battery ages and eventually will not charge at all.
The only option is to replace the battery.

Laptop (Toshiba Satelite A60) keeps turning off

Is it turning off by itself after being on for 20min... each time? I.e. is it consistently turning itself off after the same amount of run time? Check the bottom of the laptop... how hot is it? Might be an over-heating problem. Some freeware (MobileMeter) might help you monitor temperatures and see if it is a problem
