After mowing for a while the mower slows down. If I let cool the speed improves for a while.

Mower has new belts and has been serviced. Still after mowing for 10 or 15 minutes it slows to a crawl. everything else is working fine. If I let sit for 30 minutes and start same thing.

SOURCE: Poulan Pro model 185H42ST dies after 30-45 minutes mowing

Put a carb kit in it. If that does not work replace the gas cap they are supposed to breath and if they get clogged it will create a vacuum in the tank starving the engine for fuel.

SOURCE: L111 transmission slips

Is this a hydrostatic transmission if it is check the fluid level. It will really need changing and some are sealed and not to be worked on BUT it is possible to drill a hole in the bottom and top of a sealed unit to change that fluid just don't get any shaving in it. These transmissions must stay clean. The drilled holes must be taped and plugged now you can change that oil just like your car. Don't forget to purge that transmission. By the way they use 20W 50 motor oil.

SOURCE: Swisher 60 deck belt breaks after mowing about 15 minutes.

Even though the routing is correct, have you checked that every spindle and idler pulley turns freely? These bearings can freeze up or bind because debris builds up in them. Also, if the bushings on the idler pulleys can wear, causing them to misalign. Keep checking. Also - is the belt snapping clean, or do you see a burnt, worn spot?

Testimonial: "Thank you for your help. The belt is snapping clean. You are correct in your assessment to what the problem might be. We checked all the above and did not correct problem. We put three washers on top of small idler pulley to bring it down and better align routing. Bought heavier belt at auto parts. Believe the bolt head was touching belt where it routed throught to larger idler pulley."

Swisher xzt 60.. while mowing grass pushing the arms forward the blades slow way down.. how can i fix this issue? I just put new deck and engine belts on..

Swisher is proprietary in the service arena for information. The most common cause of the issue that you are describing is belt slippage. This could be due to oversize belt length. improper tension, loose pulleys etc. Also when you look at an area that you have mowed after one day, if the tips of the grass are yellow, the blade is not sharp enough.

This most often happens when you are mowing too much grass at once, or when the deck (or chute if you have a bagger) is clogging for some reason. Sometimes this is made worse by having dull blades. Usually mowing at a slower speed or mowing more frequently will help solve this. If the motor is struggling with the blades, these are usually the culprits. Clean your deck thoroughly, cut the lawn more often, or cut it slower.

In some cases, if your PTO belt may be worn, stretched, or need adjustment. When this happens, the motor will not slow down with the blades but will keep running normally and you may smell a burning rubber smell as the blades slow down.

Husqvarna too slow when mowing

Some self-propelled mowers include a speed control, but sometimes it may seem that no matter how you adjust it, the mower just creeps along at a snail's pace. Most likely this isn't a mechanical malfunction, but an adjustment is probably needed.

Very tall or thick grass can bog down a self-propelled mower, but adjusting the height of the blade may allow it to roll through and cut the grass at normal speeds. If the blade is low, the amount of cutting required may slow down the movement of the entire mower. The frame of the mower may also stick in the high grass. Raise the blade little by little until the mower rolls at the appropriate speed. Going up hills may cause a similar response.

It's possible the drive belt on the mower can slip. Inspect this part to see if it is loose or cracked, and replace the belt to restore power.

Slow Mow

Try fixing this problem by making sure the belt is installed properly.. Whenever you install a drive belt it needs to be "seated". Make sure the belt is on correctly and the first time you try it out to see if the mower will move, start out in the highest gear. Hang on as it may ****, but this is the proper way to replace and seat a drive belt.
