Most dishes in any dishwasher are still wet when cycle is finished. The heat built up in the dishes during the washing cycle is what causes the water to evaporate when the machine stops.
If you want to accelerate the evaporation, simply open the door very slightly so that as the hot air escapes it causes the dishes to dry quicker.

SOURCE: DISHES COVERED IN WHITE POWDER

To check on the source of the white powder (calcium?) soak some dishes in vinegar to see if this cleans them up nicely ... or if the 'white powder' is actually permanent etching. You may have very 'hard' water and will need to deal with that with a water softener or additives.

Read the following article for a better understanding and try the vinegar test . (also ensure you are using dishwasher specific salt to regenerate your integral softener... assuming you have one)

SOURCE: Dirty Dishes after dishwasher has finished

there is a new product out that filters the water going into your dishwasher. it works great and my dishes look fantastic. they use to look dirty with a white film on them. after the first load when i hooked up the dishwasher filter my dishes looked brand new. it is affordable and works everytime. you can get it at www.dishwasherfilter.com. it also filters out rust and sediments so it should remove the sand like particles.

SOURCE: LG LD-14AW3 Dishwasher leaking after cycle

Sounds like you've diagnosed the solution on your own.. Most of the inlet valves are spring loaded so that if power is removed or disabled.. it defaults to a closed state and doesn't allow water int the wash basin. To open, they need to be energized by the control system so you may have one of two issues.. a faulty inlet valve that doesn't spring closed when it is not energized or a controller that is comanding that valve to open ( less likely of the two) For a quick test.. make sure the DW is dry inside and open the door. wait and watch for water to enter the basin.. If it does begin to fill up.. your inlet valve could be the root of your problem.. It is also possible that you are back-siphoning waste water in from the drain system. If the water looks dirty then that is more than likely the problem so you may have a clogged pump, kinked drain hose or your drain system itself is not draining as fast as the DW pump forces the water out.
You should routinely clean the pump filter so that the pump can remove all the wash water without having to draw it thru food debris caught in the filter.. Hope someof these ideas will help you solve your problem..

SOURCE: Dishwasher leaving film

white film is nearly always due to no rinse aid. it is laborious to do but check that rinse aid is being released. take outer door off and operate dispensor by hand to check release. also check the setting on the dispensor.
pue a multimeter on the solenoid and check that it is energised during the cycle

SOURCE: Dishes have filmy finish

hello. this will help a great deal.

First of all empty out your dishwasher, toss in two cups of plain white or cider vinegar and run it on the highest and longest cycle.

Always run the hot water in the sink first and start the dishwasher only when the water is as hot as it will get.

This wash will clean out your dishwasher thoroughly.

Then always do your dishes after you have rinsed any residue off of them before placing them in the dishwasher and I always recommend the pot scrubber cycle if you have one.

Dishes still wet upon end of cycle

Check if the heater is working. This can be done by checking if the dishwasher has steam and dishes are warm when cycle is complete. Also check if the Rinse aid has not finished. Make sure the Rinse aid dosage is not at too low.

Dishwasher not drying the dishes using the fan when the programme finishes

It is likely the rinse aid is low or empty. Check the rinse aid dispenser to see level of rinse aid. Also make sure when you open the dishwasher at end of dry cycle that it is hot inside. Otherwise most likely there is not enough steam as the heater may not be working to capacity or the thermostat is not regulating the water temperature to generate steam for drying.

I have a new stainless steel Samsung dishwasher. It doesn't seem to be drying properly. Dishes and dishwasher still very wet after cycle is completed.

Hello

Your dishwasher has been designed to use a liquid rinse aid. Pouring a liquid rinse aid into the proper recepticle in your dishwasher when you add dish detergent greatly improves drying performance. You can further improve drying performance by selecting the Sanitize option, in addition to the other options you've selected, and increasing the water temperature. For Best Results, use Jet-Dry Turbo

Spots and film form in your dishwasher's rinse cycle, when detergents are already down the drain. FINISH® JET-DRY® Rinse Agent works in the rinse cycle, lowering the surface tension of water and causing it to sheet. Better rinsing results in less spots and film.

If these recommendations do not improve drying time, please contact Samsung Customer Care

When the wash is complete the items are still wet and so is the inside of the dish washer have tried different temperatures but same problem have also left washer closed all night after wash has finished...

Either the heater unit or the dryer fan is faulty.

Check that you have not been using the Eco wash cycles.

Also make sure you are using the detergent and rinse-aid recommended in the dishwasher manual.

When we take the dishes out they are all wet

Choose the hottest rinse cycle first Economy cycles don't work properly Make sure you have rinse aid in the dispenser. Make sure the machine is heating properly too. An aid do drying is to open the door of the dishwasher just when the cycle finishes steam should come out and the water in the cabinet will condense to the walls and dry the dishes. some top end models do this with a push rod..... believe it or not (Miele) go to my website for a detailed explanation about drying www.appliances.cjb.net you can contact me from there too for further follow up good luck

Does not seem like the dishwasher is drying like it used to. After it has gone through its entire cycle the is steam condensation on all the dishes and the inner door. Previously, at the end of cycle...

Have you run out of Rinse Aid ?
This has a large effect on drying as well as how clean the dishes come out. Rinse aid [breaks up] the water dispersion, so at the end of the final rinse, the water just falls off the dishes, takes the sediment with it. So with the heat of the final rinse, & less water left on the dishes, they dry better.

Doesnt dry dishes

The heater on this unit only comes on twice, once in the wash cycle, and again in the Sanitary rinse. During the drying cycle all that happens is a vent opens and a fan comes on. The fan removes the hot moist air from the unit and the dishes dry off. If your water is not hot enough, this is why your dishes are still wet. Rinse aid also helps to sheen off the excess water as well.

Are you using a rinse aid like Jet Dry??  All dishwasher manufacturers now require that you use rinse aid for drying dishes at the end of the cycle.
