SOURCE: lawn mower belt diagram

try www.johndeere.com apply for user id and password

will need to wait for these to be issued to you via e-mail

then go to www.jdparts.com and enter your user id and pw and enter the correct site for your country and then enter model stx38
scroll through list to find deck or attachments and double click it

your deck could be a yellow or black deck

GOOD MORNING, I HAVE A D140 JOHN DEERE LAWN MOW,IT RUN WELL WHEN NOT MOWING BUT WHEN ENGAGED IT SLOW DOWN AS THOUGH IT HAS TO CATCH IT'S BREATH LESS THAN THREE YEARS OLD

Make sure there isn't anything binding the deck belt or blades. Check the spindles for free movenent. If all that is good then it might be the linkage that is supposed to adjust the throttle when the engine is under load or it might be a carb issue...especially if you run ethanol gas in it.

How do I change the throttle handle on a JD D140 mower?

Loosen the cable clamp at the linkage at the carburetor and remove the cable end from the linkage. The throttle lever housing has 2 locking tabs on both sides. You might have to use a screw driver to depress the tabs. While depressing one tab at a time push the lever housing up until removed.

D140 Belt won't engage. Replaced Switch. Still doesn't work. Any Suggestions?

does it have electric PTO ? if it does then you should be able to hear it click with ignition on and engaging pto switch if it does not then you have to look for a bad safety switch located under seat and brake pedal try unplugging pto clutch and putting 12 volts dc to one wire and grounding the other wire if it clicks its ok if it does not then safety switches are the probable cause witch is causing an open circuit.

Pieces to be assembled on delivered item

If you have to put oil in the engine, that would be an important assembly. They usually don't ship mowers with oil installed but oil is in different package for you to install.
