SOURCE: Drain Hole for Frigidaire Window Air Conditioner

Leave it alone. DO NOT attempt to create a drain. As long as a window A/C unit is installed properly, (angled slightly down toward the rear) it will drain excess water over the rear lower lip of the unit should it get that high. Many models use some of the collected water/condensation. It gets lifted up by the fan blades to cool the coil.

SOURCE: top tray not draining

I called the service tech, before Maytag stopped supporting this unit. (built by Fedders with Maytag name). Fedders has gone out of business (7-09). The tech guy said that the tray gets clogged up with crud and the solution is to try to flush the tray out with water and compressed air. I had the problem of water leaking from the trays but not properly draining through the drain hose. This solution did the trick.

SOURCE: The drain hole is in the window sill, not the back

I'm not sure why that drain hole is located where it is - but in any case - you're going to have to plug the existing hole and re-drill another drain hole at the back of the unit.

I would plug the unwanted hole with a 'liquid steel material,' i.e. JB Weld or something similar.

Note: be careful when re-drilling the new drain hole and don't drill a hole in your condenser.

good luck!

SOURCE: My FAC104 P1A window air conditioner does NOT

Some don't have a drain hole anymore. As long as you have it tilted slightly, any excess water will drain out. If your house or room feels good, it's working. It won't pull moisture out of the air if the air has already been dehumidified.

I have an amana self evaporating portable ac for my 500sf condo. I have had to unhook it and roll it outside 4 times to drain it. Lately water is now spilling out the back vent on to my floor. What's the...

It appears to me that because of the small size of your condo, you are just recirculating the humidity in the apartment. The unit is condensing the moisture in the air and then reheating it in the pan causing it to evaporate back into the air. The unit is working properly but the humidity level in your apartment continues to rise. You really need to add a drain from the pan of your portable air conditioner.

Danby PORTABLE Air Conditioner model DPAC10071 is leaking water from bottom base. The unit is 2 weeks old.

The base needs to be dumped regularly. The air conditioner sweats water during operation and the pan collects it. Your manual should give you the procedure on how this is done. In some cases there is a hose attached to the drain pan so that you can direct the drainage to a more conventional drain location.
