Battery been draining every few days. Was driving down highway and car just turns off. Checked battery and the post itself was loose in battery. Replaced battery. Within 30 minutes new battery drained

Just bought new battery for 2003 VW beetle and car battery didn't last 30 minutes. Something drained the battery within that time and vehicle just shut off on its own and coasted without acceleration. What could be causing this problem?

SOURCE: ONLY 2 MINUTES MAX OF BATTERY BACK-UP TIME BEFORE EVERYTHING SHUT

you can program your power bottom to hibernate, and connect the screen direct without the UPS, so you get more time...then when the electricity goes off, without seeing the screen just push the power bottom to hibernate.

SOURCE: UPS shuts down when the mains is off.

Hi

After 3 years, i would by a new UPS...

The battery will have to be changed if you want to keep the old one.

What i've seen mostly here in south africa. When the battery life has ended they customer opens the ups and takes out the battery and then connects a car battery to the terminals. The then close the ups and let the car battery stand outside the ups.

Hope this info helps...

SOURCE: New batteries in Smart UPS 700 only lasts 2 minutes at 30% load

If you blistered your older batteries a good chance your inverter is going or will go bad. The heat alone can do damage to your components. Time to replace the unit and remember next time not to wait so long to replace your batteries. Replacement of batteries every three to approaching four years is a good idea.

2008 Acura mDx battery dies often

It seems that the battery is not the problem. It might be that you have a short our something that is draining the battery while the car is off. Have you had any accessories added to the car that require battery power? Anything plugged in etc.?

There appears to be a short; the car will drain a new battery within a few days when parked and not even running. In addition (and it may be connected to the above condition) the dash lights blink on/off...

It sounds as though you have a bad ground which would have depleated your old battery as well, by having an intermittent ground when recharging. I had these exact symptoms and even pulled and tested my alternator and battery before nailing down a loose cable link beside the battery. Finally I saw my dash lights flicker when I hit a bump at night and the wave hit me. I never saw the symptom in daylight....

You could test from the body of the car to the battery for a voltage drain with a meter but I would suspect a corroded or loose ground. I would do this by process of elimination.
Remove and clean your negative and positive cables and inspect them and the wire itself for corrosion. Then track back to the alternator and remove and clean your terminals and inspect there as well. Check for an additional ground strap and consider buying a braided mesh type from the local auto parts store and install. Then check your results and post back.

2005 TDI battery light

Check your battery terminals are not loose or corroded.
Check your alternator dive belt tension is OK.
If no problem with drive belt, it may be worn alternator brushes.
If the problem persists get the alternator checked.

Drain on new battery

a few things... to test you need a multimeter.... unhook the positive side of the battery and hook the meter between the post and the connector.. measure current.... there should be a miniscule draw from your radio (memory) and that's about it. if there is more draw then there really should be... time to troubleshoot.... and that requires pulling fuses till you narrow down where the current drain is...
