Can't remove the oven light cover to change the bulb

I have a Whirlpoot self cleaning electric oven and I can't get the cover on the Oven Light to come off. It is supposed to turn counterclockwise and mine just turns back and forth alittle. What can I do to unscrew this cover to change the light bulb? Thanks

Using a piece of rubber will make it a lot easier to turn. I bought some to unscrew mine, and later it occurred to me that one of those rubber bracelets (Live Strong etc.) would possibly fit around the glass quite nicely. Worth a try.

I had the same problem. I put duct tape around the glass cover to protect it and used a medium sized channel lock pliers to grasp the cover and turn it. It was just stuck from being there for years.

Replace light in KEMC378KSS microwave

The oven lights are 12-volt, 5-watt maximum halogen bulbs. They
will come on when the oven door is opened. On double oven
models, both upper and lower lights will come on when either
door is opened. The oven lights will not work during the Self-
Cleaning cycle. When the oven door is closed, press OVEN
LIGHT to turn them on or off.
To Replace:
Before replacing, make sure the oven is off and cool.
1. Disconnect power.
2. Remove glass light cover by grasping the front edge and
pulling away from oven

3. Remove bulb from socket.
4. Replace bulb, replace bulb cover by snapping back into wall.
5. Reconnect power.

How to change oven light

Which model Whirlpool range do you have? For most Whirlpool ranges that I have used , the oven light is covered by a screw-on glass cover. When the oven is cool, unplug the range, open the door and turn the cover counter-clockwise (to the left). Then remove the 40W bulb (again counter-clockwise rotation). Replace the bulb with another 40W appliance bulb. Then replace the cover by turning it clockwise until it is tight. Do not over-tighten either the bulb or the cover. Then plug in the power cord for the range. (Unplugging the unit makes sure that you will not get shocked if anything goes wrong. Sometimes the bulb may break in the socket - in that case, use pliers to unscrew the base of the bulb before replacing it with a new bulb.)

Whirlpool has the manuals for most of their appliances on their support site: https://www.whirlpool.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/OCManualsLiteratureSearchView?catalogId=10561&langId=-1&storeId=10211&krypto=5QgxQhneFliXuEuX564wSQ%3D%3D&ddkey=http:OCManualsLiteratureSearchView .

I hope this helps.

How do I change the light in my double oven microwave KEMC308

the light cover at the back of the oven needs to be unscrewed. There is normally 2 or 3 little screws involved. Once it has been removed it's like any other light bulbs, unscrew and change. Make sure to put back the cover tightly in place or the light will burn when the oven turns on.

How do you get the glass cover off to change the light bulb in the oven?

There is usually a snap on wire over the top of the light lens. Gently push down on that wire.

Can not remove light bulb from whirlpool oven

I had similar difficulty. This worked for me after 45 mins grief.

I got a heavy duty 1cm wide elastic band (length double was about 14-15cm). This is a common size heavy duty elastic band in the UK.

This elastic band is much too long to go around the glass bulb cover so I tied a knot in it so that i had a complete circle of rubber band tightly held around the bulb cover. Then I used a Mole wrench -a kind of large adjustable spanner - to undo the glass bulb cover. It came off easily because the rubber band gave sufficient grip to undo it. It is about 2.5 full turns anticlockwise to completely free it.

I hope this will help the next viewer of this website.

Oven

Pry back the bulb glass cover wire spring and remove glass cover. Use heavy rubber gloves or a plastic bottle opener(piece of serrated soft plastic/rubber) and unscrew counterclockwise.
