Why does my Phone handset says no link to base please check base?

Try another handset usually portable phones can have 2 3 or 4 handsets in the kit one is unusual if the second handset works then the phone is faulty usually the internal antenna cord has become dislodged which stops it being able to send or receive via the base

Solution 1 remove the battery cover & battery the remove the screws that retain the back cover of the phone & look around around for loose or dislodged connections.
Solution 2 get a 2nd hand phone off ebay (same make and model)
sychronise it with the base & if that works toss the faulty one
Solution 3 theses are relatively cheap Good Guys in Sydney
had Philips & Unident 3 phones & bases for under $50 recently
Solution 4 Get someone like me to repair the phone but it is likely to cost more than a new one to repair it, Pick a solution 1, 2, 3, or 4

Remove then replace the batteries from the hand set. You should now get dial tojo.

Make sure your connection to the phone jack is secure.
Use another wired phone to make sure connection is good to your phone.
Secure connection in back of phone, and plug it in. The base MUST have power to transmit the signal to the handset even if the handset has a fresh charge.
Although the handset is normally linked to the bases, check to make sure via the instructions. To determine if the base recognizes the handset, press the "LOCATE HANDSET" button.
If the hadset responds, the links is there.

Another user (thank yoiu but I'm sorry I forgot his/her name) had the answer. It was ihe instructions but I missed it. Needed to set the 2nd handset into the main base for 20 seconds so that it could align itself.

Please the 2nd handset on the main base cradle for 20 seconds to re-register.

I ordered a new kx-tg560m handset for my kx-tg5632 base unit, but the enclosed instructions for registering it with the base unit were wrong. Fortunately, I found the old quick setup guide in my files.

If you do not have the same base unit and handset, go to the URL:

1. On the handset, press [MENU], then press [0][0]. The handset displays "Refer to manual to prepare base. Then press OK->"
2. On the base unit, press [SELECT] until the desired extension number [H1, H2, H3, or H4] is displayed on the base unit, then press and hold [CALL] until the CHARGE indicator flashes.
3. On the handset, press the [OK] softkey.

When the handset is off and sitting in the charger, the handset's extension is displayed in the upper right corner.

take the 2nd handset to the working base unit and go to the menu, registration mode, and access handset registration. it must have the same password number as the first handset.Thank you. JER.

SORRY TO BE REDUNDANT BUT DID YOU HAVE PHONE IN STAND BY AND NEAR BASE.
THEN PRESS PGM
THEN INTERCOM
THE SCREEN SHOULD SAY ENTER SYSTEM ID
ENTER THE 10 DIGITS SYSTEM ID ( THIS NUMBER IS ON A STICKER ON THE BOTTOM OF THE BASE PHONE)
THEN PRESS PGM.
MAKE SURE YOU ARE PUTTING THE CORRECT ID NUMBER IN THE PHONE

I think your problem might be that the second handset is not registered with the base station. Take the second phone out of it's cradle and place it in the base station (where the first phone is), and leave it there for 20 seconds. Place it back in it's own cradle, and it should start working. I have the same problem, I have the same model and sometimes I have to put the 2nd Handset on the main base and let the main base "rocognize it" before I can use it. That usually fixes the problem for me.
