Hi, I have an Onkyo 7.1Channel 3D Network AV Receiver/Speaker System HTS-9400THX purchased two years back. Today all of a sudden when powered on, my front speaker left and right (SKF 980) and center speaker (SKC 980) stopped working. There is audio from the normal speakers but no output from the tweeters. Also no sound from the sub woofer. 1. I connected the calibration mike and started the process of calibration. The result showed: Left: error Right: error Center: error Sub woofer : NO 2. I did factory reset thrice (vcr/dvr + power button) but no joy. 3. Unplugged wire aft switching off receiver and re-plugged still no joy. Subwoofer light shows blue indication serviceable. In the speaker configuration menu (2-2), Front speaker is not highlighted (configuration cant be changed), Sub woofer can be turned on/off

So your saying that you have no rear channel. Some recivers use a single stereo output ic for both sides on the rear speakers. you could have a defect with this IC . Anther thing Im sure you check3ed the obvious ie : the switch is on suround sound? If there is a front to rear fader is it in the middle? Good Luck

Hey Tad, I have the same problem and perhaps a solution. I just moved to the other SW "pre-out" and it seems to be working..the green light is on . Whatever works i guess.

You didn't state it but I assume the other channels are functional?
The auxilliary channels are generally lower power and may even be serviced by a different voltage than the main amps.
If it is so designed, you may have something as simple as a blown fuse for the main amp supply.
If the aux. channels are equal in power, the power supply may still be dividing the load so a fuse still could be at fault.
The unit could also use integrated power amplifiers in which case, if two channels are operating from a single module it could be a module failure.
I don't see much chance of anyone repairing this system without examining it in the first person.

First of all you should never indicate speakers as Large unless they can produce below 20Hz (which is very low), otherwise always set your speakers to Small.
Second, did you also indicate in teh setupmenu that you have a subwoofer? Because if all speakers are set to Large some receivers will omit a subwoofer because Large indicates the speakers can reproduce all sounds even below 20Hz.
So walk through your setup menu, say YES when the sub (SFW) is asked for and that should do the trick.

I have the same issue. I took the speaker apart and tested with a meter and both the mid and tweater were wide open, in short blow out. Not sure what caused this but the speaker needs to be replaced.
