SOURCE: Bobbin thread breaks

Make sure your bobbin thread is turning clockwise as it sits in the bobbin case. There is a screw on the outside of the bobbin case you can turn with your thumb slightly to adjust tension. If you dangle the case from the thread and give it a light ****, it should move down slightly when doing so-an indicator of good bobbin tension.

SOURCE: Upper Thread Breaks!!!

Hi, here are some reasons why the thread is breaking :-)

  • Threading is not correct.
  • Thread has a knot in it.
  • Thread tension is too tight.
  • Needle is bent or blunt or has a sharp eye.
  • Needle is wrong size.
  • Needle has been inserted wrong.
  • Needle and thread does not match.
  • Starting to stitch too fast.
  • Thread take-up lever has not been threaded.

  • Hope this helps.

SOURCE: thread keeps breaking on sewing machine

Probably just the needle. Try turning it 180 degrees

Why does the thread on my sewing machine keep breaking?

Several possibilities. It could be the needle, the tension too tight, mis-threading, the thread weight, brand, poor quality, or fabric incompatibility with needle & thread.

Why the thread cracked with when i sticked with the machine

Thread breakage could occur for several reasons.

First, try a brand new needle.

Second, use only good quality thread--NOT old thread or bargain bin varieties.

Third, when threading the upper thread, be sure to ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot throughout the threading process.

Verify that the thread path is correct (consult the owner's manual). Incorrect threading will usually break the thread.

Check that the upper thread tension is set at the midway point between the high & low numbers.

I have a Toyota RS2000 sewing machine. The thread has suddenly started breaking, and I am getting big bundles of thread under the fabric. What is wrong please?

try a top thread tension of 4

    change to a new needle

clean under the needle plate & in bobbin area for lint or loose threads

also rethread machine top thread & bobbin just incase thread is catching somewhere

make sure the thread doesn't come off the thread take up lever

check to see if there are any burrs on the needle plate or the bobbin

    Thread is going on cutting.

you do need to provide more details.  start here - get a fresh spool of high quality all purpose thread such as Coats and Clarks or Metrosene thread, fill a fresh bobbin, install a new size 11 needle.  Follow the threading instructions even if you've threaded the machine a million times, read the instructions again.  try sewing on some basic cotton fabric.  You'll be able to determine if it's the machine.  Breaking thread can be the thread (it does get too old and fragile), the needle, the incorrect needle for the fabric, the wrong thread for the fabric, and a host of other things.  So try that and tell us more if that doesn't work.
