There is a dead short line to line or line to ground. The dead short can be detected with a electric continuity tester connected across the load side of the mains (power shut off) and opening covers and inspecting the wiring.
No i dont but i could suggest you check the heating element and the clixon that connects to the evaporator. If the heater does not function, it takes a much longer time than usual to switch the freezer on.
the stat is clamped to the backplate of the frodge with a simple clamp held just by two screws. undo the clamp. the stat capiliary may be bent back on itself, if so straighten it and it will pull out

check that the correct thermostat is installed and that the element wire is connected.check door rubber and door hinges.check if it has independant defrost timmers and if it is working.oh and see if the element is drawing current if fitted with one.
