Maybe you could try some more free DVD players such as Leawo Blu-ray Player, 5K player and RealPlayer.
Once you insert the dvd in your laptop,it should asking you what to do in a box.You can choose to play the media and etc.If there is no box pop up,you can try open media player like cyberlink dvd or vlc player, go to file >open media from your dvd player.

good day maybe the dvd rom is defective. wont spin the cd or the optical lens is dirty needs to clean up.

Straight from the user guide, just discovered it today because I have also been having this frustrating problem. Use Fn + F6 - it is a toggle switch to enable and disable the Touchpad. I have a Lenovo wireless mouse now instead.
