What could be causing the door latch to release late in the wash cycle of my Kenmore Ultra dishwasher?

I've reset the control board, put a new latch and catch. Ive checked the door switches, and cleaned out the vents but nothing seems to prevent the door from opening and stopping the cycle. The door latch seems to release causing the door to open slightly.

The door spring tension might be causing the door latch to become disengaged. Check the level of the dishwasher and also adjust door spring tension. Will need model number to provide more details.

SOURCE: Kenmore Ultra Wash Dishwasher LIghts are blinking....

I just read this for the same problem: push sanitize, then heat and dry, sanitize, heat and dry, sanitize, heat and dry, cancel, then open and close the door. It worked. The dishwasher is running correctly even as I type this.

SOURCE: Amana Dishwasher Mod. ADB1500AWQ, Door won't open.

HI,

Please check whether the plastic pins are broken.

I removed the inner door panel and found the handle broken. It has integrally molded plastic pins that provide a pivot for the handle to push against the release assembly. These were broken off. Also noticed that there were some small fingers molded on the back of the switch panel that were snapped off. I'm not sure what these are for and I can't see how they are needed for the latch operation. My hunch is that they aid in positioning the handle during factory assembly. I'm NOT going to buy a new switch panel to replace these!

I don't know why the handle broke but it did so in stages. I think one pin broke, and then everything else broke because of added misalignment and stress. The good news: a new handle only costs about $10 and I'll have it in a couple of days. Thanks

SOURCE: dishwasher door will not open.tried

The plastic latch release inside the door handle is broken. Most likely one of the pins holding it in place has broken.

First go to your local dishwasher supplier and look at a similar brand (GE Profile in my case) and see how the mechanism works. Next, get a thin pair of siccors, pull the dishwasher handle down and slid the siccors into the opening above the handel and push the tab holding the door closed up so it will release.

Once the door is open, remove the inside of the door to get to the latch. Remove the plastic latch release and order a new one.

SOURCE: Dishwasher (Kenmore 665 Ultra Wash) won't drain. Suggestions?

HI.This is a drain issue. check the following areas for faults.

1. Air gap / Drain hoses
If there is an air gap (located in the sink, near the faucet), check to see if it is clogged. Unscrew the top cap and see if there is anything blocking inside. Note: If there is no air gap installed, the dishwasher might not drain properly.

If the drain hose is clogged, the dishwasher would not drain. If there is an air gap installed, it is very common that a hose going from the air gap into the garbage disposer is clogged. Remove and clean the hose. Make sure to reattach the hose before starting the dishwasher.

Note: If you recently had a garbage disposer installed, it is common to overlook removing the drain plug.

Ok, if the hoses are ok and not clogged, this will confirm a major issue that concerns the drain assembly or pump impeller.

replace the pump(drain) if found to be faulty.

It could be a few things, faulty door lock, stuck water inlet valve, faulty control board. You need a service call to diagnose and fix. There are some ideas in the link.

Frigidaire FGID2466QF7A dishwasher touchpad non-responsive

I called Frigidaire with these codes. They said it indicates a power failure happened (during a wash cycle, I suppose) and to do a hard reset. A hard reset is turning off the breaker for 30+ minutes and then flipping the breaker back on. This kind of worked, but simultaneous to the error codes, the push/pull latch on my dishwasher got set to the closed position while the door was open, so the door would not latch. I feel that this was the initial problem that caused these codes. So in my case, I had to manually rotate the latch open with bent piece of wire, to get it into the correct position first. Then the hard reset seemed fix the error codes. I was able to start a wash. It's running now.

I have a kenmore ultra 665 1627. The green front panel light blinks. And we can not run a cycle. Thanks

Ah, the famous (or infamous) Clean-light blinking problem. Watch that blinking light.... Does it blink 7 times, pauses, and repeats? Or does it blink 3 times (or some other number). The most common problem is 7 blinks which means "water not heating error". This could be caused by a bad heating element, a bad thermal cutoff, a bad controller; but the most common problem is that 1 of the 2 switches inside the door latch is not getting engaged fully. This may be caused by something getting spilled (like a soda) into the door latch that is making it stick, or the door strike may be weak and not pressing down on the door latch hard enough. If it's the latch, you would need to take the door apart and remove the latch mechanism (unplug the dishwasher first!), remove the switches, and clean the plastic parts with water, dry it, and then re-assemble. The other thing to check is the door strike, which is supposed to push down the latch. The springiness of this metal part may be weak. You can remove that door strike, bend it down more, and then re-install it. Then you need to reset the controller by running a diagnostic cycle. Do that by pressing the following sequence of keys: Heated Dry - Normal - Heated Dry - Normal; or High Temp - Air Dry - High Temp - Air Dry; or Hi Temp Scrub, Energy Saver Dry, Hi Temp Scrub, Energy Saver Dry; or High Temp Wash, Heated Dry, High Temp Wash, Heated Dry). You will know that you have entered the diagnostic cycle when all the lights light up for a few seconds. Let the dishwasher run the diagnostic cycle for a few minutes, and then press Cancel to stop the dioagnostic cycle and clear the error.
Note: On some of the newer Whirlpool, Kenmore, KitchenAid dishwashers, you start the diagnostic cycle by rapidly pressing the 3 left-most keys in the following sequence: 1 2 3, 1 2 3, 1 2 3.
Good luck!

Dishwasher contuallycuts out through entire run cycle

Hi Andrew - Try resetting the unit by either unplugging it or flipping the household circuit breaker to the off position. Wait roughly ten minutes and turn on the dishwasher. Confirm that the door is properly latched and try selecting a cycle. If resetting the power does not correct the issue, it could potentially mean a number of things: wiring failure, damaged cord, faulty door latch assembly or control board. I would personally contact a professional to accurately diagnose the washer to determine the root cause to reduce the risk of unnecessary parts.

My Kenmore Ultra Wash QuietGuard4 flashes the Clean light 7 times then pauses, then repeats the flashing sequence. Help.

You have a problem with your heating circuit . It could be the ( heater control board , wiring , or the door latch . ) do a visual inspection on the heater most of the time you can feel the problem . trace wires from heater to control to make sure of no damage . On the latch push the latch on the tub down as far as possible so that when you close the door it just misses the door . it is a thin metal piece . The latch pushes down 2 micro-switches in the door .This is the most probable cause . Other than that you need to get a multi meter to check for voltage coming out of the control at your heater in the main wash . and ohm out you door switches . To clear flashing hit (high temp wash , heated dry , high temp wash , heated dry .) That will put it in a diagnostic cycle (hit cancel to stop . )
