You must have an epa license to buy r-22. There is a r-22a on the market that doesn't require a license. I know the difference between R-12 and R-22 in the boiling point. I was just wondering if r-22a is compatible with r-22.You must have an epa license to buy r-22. There is a r-22a on the market that doesn't require a license. There should be a label on the indoor or outdoor unit telling you the charge amount. You also have to consider the length of the pipe run which may need extra R22 added per meter after about 7m. But since R22 is being phased out world wide, it is usually extremely expensive and you're probably better off cutting your losses and installing a new one.
normally this would indicate low refrigerant but cant be positive without more info ,try running a can of dye (leak detector through the system and see what it shows ,you can purchase at auto zxone or any parts store for under 20
I was under the understanding that R22 was for AC units only, R134 is current along with R409 (hotshot), prior to the was R12 dated 1995 and earlier. Due to the expansion properties needed for R22, I would not mix this with any other freon.
If your going to pay that much just have them put in a new unit. It is not that much more and you can get free financing. All the repairman can do is guess and keep putting in new parts till it works. Had a new unit put in and it still didn't work found out it was a bad thermostat. But at lest we don't have the repair bills or high electric bill anymore so it paid for its self in saved money.
there is probably a leak in the systems somewhere, it needs to be inspected for a leak and charged with R-22 for proper cooling. There is a stop leak for air conditioning systems available to licensed technicians to buy, might work if the leak is very small.
the red hose connects to smaller line...usually 3/8's....the blue connects to larger that has black insulation. The yellow to tank of freon. The unit must be running to put in blue hose. If unit nit running put in red hose. Must be done by someone with EPA 68 license
this unit does not take r22. dont put r22 in it , thats for house acs.this unit should take r12 older freon . but id first check the condenser coils, if this unit has any, some models are internal. usually underneath unit or against back wall. if dirty coils that will make ref. run longer. if coils are clean and cooling or frzing in both sides then maybe your thermostat is not sensing the tempreture properly, maybe hard to get part becuz of age. if unit is frzing and cooling good just running too long, i dont think its low on freon,if its low on freon it wouldnt be working at all . hope this helps
refrigerators dont come with shrader valves. U must buy a clamp on or weld one on the low side. The clampons are not expensive and are called Bullet piercing valve BPV 31 and fit 3 sizes. Unfortunately u also have a leak somewhere. Most refrigerators use either R12 or 134a
