Optics, open up and just clean every thing you can get at, a streak, will be dust in optics, clean mirrors etc, if very fine lines on every thing, as you say laser printer, would be drum damage. just on scans dust. might need to take top glass plate off.

The ink blotter in the bottom of the machine is full, this is a built-in redundancy. Machine needs to be completely stripped to replace this.

Buy another brand next time.

Sounds like a bad drum cartridge. Pull the toner/drum cartridge out of the machine and set it down. Press down on a (blue?) tab to release the toner cartridge, and you can lift the toner cartridge out of the drum cartridge. There is a cleaning blade in there - a soft plastic blade that rides against the drum and scrapes off toner that didn't get transferred to the paper. If it gets stuck off the drum surface, images repeat a few inches (one drum circumference) down the page.

A new DR-350 drum unit should fix it. have the machine's power on when replacing it. While the door is open, touch the CLEAR key. The display will read "REPLACE DRUM?" or something like that. Press 1 for Yes.

Getting horizontal red streaks across printed page

The drum roller is damaged. You must be careful and spin the cylinder. do not touch the roller. You probably have a line in the roller that causes this issue. Each time i have seen this problem, this was the cause.

Sometimes just a static shock can do that, you need to replace the control panel pcb to fix it.

I have a BROTHER MFC- 8860DN that makes black streaks on copies

If this is only happening with copies and not straight prints, it is possible that the problem is with the scanning unit. Use the soft cloth to clean the scanner area to the left side of the machine where pages are scanned when run through the page feeder. A spec of dust or other debris in this area will appear as a streak along the length of the page.

If it occurs on all prints, You may need to replace the drum or clean the fuser unit.

Magenta streak running length of paper

Have you tried cleaning the corona wire?  You can also use a cotton swab and clean the drum.  Just be sure to unplug the unit from the wall and allow everything to cool down.

Lines showing up on document after scanned

Do you have lines, too when scanning a document?
In this case the scanner glas needs cleaning. Use a soft cloth and some glass cleaning solution and wipe the scanner glass. The lines should disappear.
