Microwave lamp burn't out

I have a Kitchenaid combination microwave/electric oven model kemc378kbl04 (Microwave above the electric oven).

It appears that I may be able to remove only the microwave oven to replace the bulb with the one I have already purchased.

How can I remove only the microwave oven to gain access to the bulb socket?

Thanks,

Vic Corral

Microwave won't heat the food

You need a magnetron. Look for a blown thermal cutoff or burned wire while you are in there

The microwave light and fan stops working, but it still heats.

If the fan doesn't work the magnetron may overheat and burn out. Look for a seized motor.
The light may be just a blown lamp.
Hope that helps.

My kitchenaid microwave

Hi,

I have the same model in my home only mine is black rather than stainless. The problem you are encountering is most likely due to a fuse that has blown internally in the unit. Before having it looked at be sure you have power to the wall outlet that the microwave is plugged into. The outlet is usually in the cabinet above the microwave, simply unplug the microwave and plug a lamp or other appliance to verify it is 'live'. If the outlet is live the repair for the fuse may be a done from the front if you have a bit of patients and basic knowledge of electricity. I would recomment calling a service company to make all repairs on this paticular unit as it can be very tricky. Let me know I can help further.

Burned out bulb on Kitchen Aid Microwave Model KBMC140

You will need to remove the oven from the wall and remove the outer cover.

If for some reason you don't have yours, you can download your owner's manual and installation instructions free from this page.

You can also find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number from the tag on the oven here.

These models use halogen lamps. You must not touch halogen types with your bare skin, as the oils will shorten the bulb life.

You should be able to get one from a home center or local appliance parts store.

If you order it online (from the link above) it is part # 4375348.
