Most likely a fuel line that has failed as a result of modern fuels with high levels of methanol. Given the age of the unit I'd expect that fuel is either leaking from a cracked fuel line or directly from the carburetor because one of the rubber diaphragms has been destroyed by new fuel. PS. never leave fuel in the unit over the winter or for extended periods of time. Try to run it out or drain the tank.

what is it idle at? how much? remove your seat check air filter if is black oily remove it and see if that fixes your problem you may want to change your spark plugs as well # one cylinder may be starting to foul the new yamahas are the worst for fouling plugs use a cr8eb instead of the cr9eb the 8s are hotter and work better try those and let me know thank you

My 97 gp760 did this. I checked almost everything. Replace or clean your plugs, then run carb cleaner through your fuel filter both ways, and then spray carb cleaner into the fuel line from the fuel filter to the carbs. Run 10 minutes, more carb cleaner into the fuel line, and run it 15 more minutes. Then zip tie fuel lines at the fuel filter. I figure there was trash or buildup in the carb. Its easier than rebuilding the carb. Try it. Daniel at the MEXPIPE Pto Escondido Oaxaca.

The bearing housing and shaft are pressed into the housing.Located behind your engine. The bearing housing has set pins ,if you removed the 3 bolts and move the engine forward the rear housing will come out. Im not sure if this helps with your problem ,Im not sure what you are refering to as intake duct. Hope this helps.
