Lowrance screen my screen is blank and reads burn in mode

If you turn on the "fish I.D. mode" in your sonar options then you will be able to turn on the fish alarm as well. Lowrance HDS 5x Gen2 Fishfinder

they do have updates to your model but how old is it cuse i way does a great job replaceing parts for free

Sounds like a software glitch. Strongly suggest you contact lowrance. I've been selling and installing these systems for many years. I don't recall ever coming across that on screen prompt previously.

Just do a soft or hard reset. I did a hard reset. Power off. Push and hold pages button, press Light/Power button once (do not let go of Pages button; wait until unit turns on, let go of button. Follow prompts. Should be good. Happy fishing.

Hey Les, Since you have replace both the unit and transducer, you have eliminated/diagnosed most of your problem.. Its in the wiring... sometime when I am in full GPS mode I get erroneous depth readings..?? Have you tried a different GPS module (the "puck")?

You need to contact Lowrance about the repair.

My really older, but loved, unit failed and Lowrance pointed out that techonlogy is SERIOUSLY imporved, and convinced me to upgrade to a new unit. I disliked the price, but LOVE THE unit. TONS easier to read, even in bright sunlight, depth sounder portion much improved...twin beams really makes accurate reading, and fast readings (unlike older units).

You can try a hard reset:

1. Turn unit off
2. Press and hold ZIN, ZOUT, and PWR until you get the "WARNING, DO NOT RELY..." message.

If that doesn't work, try installing the latest updates from http://www.lowrance.com/en/Downloads/Product-Software-Updates/

If it still doesn't work, and you can't get through to Lowrance by phone, try emailing them by going to http://www.lowrance.com/en/Support/Product-Support/Contact/

It probably won't be worth repairing the unit. You will be better off putting that money into a current unit which will be much better than the 2400 and probably less expensive than the 2400 was when it was new.

sent back to lowrance.

had same problem. the cause was corrosion in the boat wiring. the power wire was corroded 95%thru. there was enough voltage to start the unit but when the sounder kicks in the voltage dropped below minimum and the unit shut off. took a LOOOONG time to find.
