SOURCE: drill bit is stuck inside my makita drill chuck

Try using the low torque setting on the drill when reversing and something to assist you getting a better grip to hold the chuck from spinning when reversing. This may help.

Good Luck

Removing the drill bit from the chuck.

Very often, a certain size of drill bit can get "swallowed " by the drill chuck.
It has happened to me often.
I recommend you insert the drill bit into a vise and tighten it well, leaving a 1/8 inch gap to the chuck.
Take a large screwdriver and pry the chuck away from the vise.
It should come out.
God bless your efforts.

I have a Milwaukee M18 cordless drill with a bit broken off inside and the chuck won't open.

Put your drill into reverse, and hold the chuck. With luck, that will loosen the chuck and the broken bit will fall out.

How do I load the drill bits in the keyles chuck of my Metabo impact drill Model SBE 561?

Keyless chucks work one of two ways
1: Simply turn the chuck by hand to loosen or tighten drill bit, once it grips the drill bit you will not be able to turn it anymore
2: Some keyless chucks operate by pulling the chuck back towards the body of the drill, placing the drill bit in and then releasing the chuck back to its original position

How do I take a bit out?

It is a keyless chuck. Put the drill in reverse (chuck should spin to the left when viewed from the back) and hold the main body area of the chuck with your hand while slowly running the drill. The chuck will open (unless it is broke) and release the bit. You do the opposite (slowing running the drill in forward) for tightening a bit in the chuck.

I can not change the drill bit. Do I need another tool?

that depends on whether or not you have a keyed or keyless chuck. if you have a keyless chuck then you do not need another tool you must turn the chuck counter clockwise to loosen the chuck and replace the bit. if you have a keyed chuck then you will see three holes around the chuck of the drill ie the part that holds the bit. just below the holes you will see teeth spaced evenly around the drill. a chuck key allows you to put the end of the key in one of the holes and using the teeth you turn the chuck key thereby loosening the chuck and allowing you to change the bit. if you have a keyed chuck just take it to your local hardware store and they can provide you with the correct key and show you how to remove the bit. if your chuck is keyless the hold the chuck put the drill in reverse and pull the trigger use a glove to protect your hand

How do I change the drill bits and then tighten so the bits stay in the drill?

The chuck will not turn. So to loosen just turn the black plastic counter clockwise. The chuck will loosen. Or you can hold the black part on the chuck tight and put the drill in reverse and slowly squeeze the trigger and the chuck will loosen also. Do the opposite to put a new bit in. Put the drill in forward and hold the black part of the chuck and squeeze the trigger with the bit in place and it will tighten down on the bit.

I have a Makita HP1621f Drill, and I cannot get the drill bit out, seems like the chuck itself is bad,any ideas on how to remove the drill bit?

Sometimes if you happen to have the right size bit, it will stick into the bolt that holds the chuck on if the chuck wasn't tight enought to keep it from slipping further into the chuck. Clamp drill bit in vice and tap chuck with soft hammer to pull it free.

Keyless chuck will not tighten down enough to hold bit

What size bit are you using if it is real small it may be below the min sixe require for that chuck .If it is say 1/8 or larger it may be time for a new chuck .They are easy to replace open the chuck as far as you can there is a screw inside them most of them are left hand threads just back it out and tap the chuck loose with a hammer .Make sure you know the threads of your chuck when you buy the new one most are 1/2-20 but some can be 3/8-24 tpi

Porter cable 884 cordless drill

Most chucks have a tolerance the cordless drills where designed for drill bits 1/8 and larger the 3/8 chucks are a little better with the smaller bits .Check your owners manual and see if they have a min requirement listed for the bit size
