Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

If your DC41 Animal has no suction from the hose, it's likely there's a blockage somewhere in the wand, hose or changeover valve. For help locating and removing this, please follow the steps shown in our Support video:

It's also a good idea to give the filters a wash - this should be done at least once every three months, as shown in the video below. Use cold water without detergent, and allow at least 24 hours for both filters to dry completely before replacing them.

I'm confident following these steps will resolve the issue, but if you'd like any further advice from our experts after giving this a try, you can reach us on 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) or 1800 239 766 (AU).

Why would a Hoover Windtunnel have no suction?

It could be clogged at the head or throat, or you might have a hole in the hose. Unplug the hose; if you're getting suction where the hose plugs in then the problem is in the hose or the head. If you're not getting suction where the hose plugs in then the problem is in the body, probably the throat. If the problem is in the hose or head, detach the hose from the head and check for suction at the end of the hose. If there's not suction there, then you've got a clog or a hole. If there is suction there, then you've got a clog in then head.

Riccar 8995 no suction

I think you mean it's an 8955, Riccar has not had a 8995 model. If there is no suction in the hose it has to have something clogging it. Open the little round opening on the back of the vacuum where the hose attaches to see if you have suction there.

How do I switch the vacuum from floor to accessory suction

It automatically switches over when you disconnect the hose from the power nozzle. No suction it getting to the power nozzle, so the suction is only through the attachments. If there is no suction through the hose, check for clogs in the hose and in the tank where the hose plugs in. Also, check the screen at the bottom of the tank. If there is a clog in the hose or tank, then there also will be no suction to the power nozzle.
Remove all clogs and you should get suction.

What do to if keeps spitting things out even if new bag is in?

It sounds like the roller brush is going, but the vacuum isn't working, i.e., no suction.
If you have a canister vacuum, disconnect wands from hose and place hand at end of hose. If there is suction, it's fine. If not, disconnect hose from vacuum, turn on vacuum, and hold hand to intake. If there's suction here, then the hose must be clogged; or holey hose can result in greatly reduced suction.
If it's an upright, the hose could be clogged. Or the fan broken, which would also result in no suction. It would help to know what model you have.

Dyson hose does not produce alot of suction when extended.

Hi its Darran at Dyson.

It sounds as though the wand/hose is blocked. with the machine locked in the upright positino, remove the hose from the machine, switch on and test the suction. If the suction is poor, remove the wand from the hose and test the suction from the top of the hose. If the suction is strong, you will need to check the wand for a blockage. If the suction is still poor, check the hose for a blockage.

You may find it useful to wash the filter as this can sometimes cause a drop in performance if its dirty and it wuold be more noticable from the hose.

I hope that this information is useful to you.

Kind regards
Darran

The machine will not suction - it will spray and spin the brushes but will not suction - the power is going to the machine, but it will not suction.

Disconnect the suction hose. While running, check the suction port if it works, by putting a piece of paper. If the paper is taken in, then it is oK. Now, check the suction Hose for breaks or opening before the suction head. Breaks or opening breaks the suction power at the suction head. Loose connection between the suction pipe and the suction port also must be check as this will also cause the same
problem. You may need to replace the suction hose
to correct this problem,

I have little suction when using the hose attachment

Check the hose for a blockage. If you remove the hose, if there is suction at the point where the hose hooks to the back of the vac, then the hose is clogged. If no suction there, check filters, make sure they are clean.

Reverse Suction

You have a clog either at the inlet by the brush roll or in the hose. Pull the hose and check for suction at the end of the hose, If it is ok there, then you have a clog from where the hose hooked into and the inlet at the bottom. If at the end of the hose there is no suction, take the hose off and see if you see a clog in it. If no clog there, then check all filters, if they get clogged, then air can't flow thru them and no suction.
