My Simplicity Symmetry vacuum quit running earlier today while I was using it. The light on the handle still comes on, just no motor action. What do you think is happening?

Remove the handle screw to remove the handle assembly from the vacuum. Remove the screws holding both sides of handle together to separate handle to get access to switch
Recline the handle all the way back, there is a little rubber cap on the motor cover that can be removed to push the button on the circuit board o reset the timer on the tandem air series. The vacuum must be running when being reset.
Your simplicity has a lifetime belt. It has a sensor to shut the direct air motor off if something restricts the brushroll from from turning. You may save money in the long run by taking it to a simplicity or Riccar vacuum dealer.
I test a motor by taking an old vacuum cleaner cord with alligator clips on the ends and hook it up to the motor simply bypassing the entire vacuum cleaner. If it runs then I know the problem is not the motor.
There is a thermal reset button on your vaccum. It is on the rear of the unit, just below the attachments and next to the sticker with the serial numer etc on it. The vacuum is designed to turn itself of if too much heat gets built up to prevent it from "burning up."
You can let the vacuum run alittle longer so the bag fills up with air, also make sure that the bag in on correctly and you have the right bag for the unit. Let me know if this helps.
