SOURCE: Flotec Shallow Well Jet Pump won't pump water

The tank is an air tank, it works like a cushon and accumulator.

Have you reconnceted the pump? If not fill the pipe that goes to the well with water. It should not drain down, there should be a foot valve that prevents the water from running back into the well. So if the foot valve is working it should not take a lot of water to do this.

Pour water into the suction side of the pump until the pump is as full as you can get it, reconnect the pump and start it up. Yes it does need to be primed

Good luck

SOURCE: i have a flotec water pump that sits on top of my

if the pump is working correctly, it can either be, need more water to prime it, or something in the well, such as low water, plugged filter, etc....sometimes when you have a system that is intermittently used, it can take 20 or 30 minutes of continuous priming to get it to pull, enough water to maintain the prime.

SOURCE: 3/4 pump -is pumping water - but a a slow pace

Re prime the pump. Make sure the suction line is completly flooded so it will take a good suction from the well.

SOURCE: Pump stopped working while pumping

Yes, most motors are thermally protected. It is usually bi-metallic, and resets itself.

SOURCE: Flotec pump problem

Thank you for posting your question here on Fixya.com.

No, only a thermal overload. If the unit was hot and has had a chance to cool off it should start. If you have voltage to the motor and it will not even hum or buzz, you need a new motor. The short must have blown the winding open.

If this answer does not fix your problem, please comment with additional details prior to rating the answer. Positive feedback is appreciated once your problem is solved!

Gould water pump not comming on

Check for power to the pump then check again after the built in pressure switch. You can get the manual from Flotec at: http://www.flotecpump.com/ResidentialResourcePage_resourcepage_ownersmanuals.aspx

If the motor buzzes then there is probably a bad start capacitor.

I have a 1 hp in ground Flotec pool pump. It is not pumping the proper flo. It makes noise when it starts but then clears up. The motor sounds good. How do I get a manual on the parts for the pump...

GOOD LUCK GETTING PARTS FOR THIS.. FRANK , IF WERE MY POOL I WOULD CHANGE THAT PUMP OUT TO A STA-RITE DURA GLASS.. FLOTEC IS A POOR COPY OF THE STA RITE.. OR YOU CAN CHECK THE IMPELLER IF IT IS PLUGGED WITH TRASH OR IT COULD HAVE A BAD CAPACITOR.. BRING IT IN AND HAVE IT CHECKED..

3/4hp pump stalls before finally starting on 5th or 6th try.

Sounds to be a need for a new start capacitor. Have an electrician come out and chk it out.Good luck -ned-

I have a Flotec FP 4022-10 3/4 hp shallow well pump. It was working fine yesterday afternoon and then in the evening I had no water. I replaced the pressure switch and checked the pressure in the tank...

If heating up, the motor thermal switch is opening to shut down the motor; this is by design. During the brief run time does it pump at all? It sounds as if there may be mechanical issues on the pump itself and the motor (from the extra draw) is heating up and shutting down. I'd look in to the pump to see if anything had failed within it.
I hope this may have helped,
Tom

I have a flotec jet pump for a shallow well. It keeps throwing the GFI and shutting off after only 10-15 seconds. I have replaced receptacle, water level is fine (has a float).

If this is a new problem that has just started
The GFI mite be bad or the motor mite be going bad Need to check the amp draw of the motor this will tell you witch is the problem
