Why CPU is Overheating / connectors not plugged right ?

I was trying to clean my PC of dust, accidentaly i plugged off the power led, the speaker, power sw and reset sw connectors, and i don't know if i plugged them right back because since then the CPU is overheating fast, it goes to 90 degrees C in about 1 minute and then the pc shuts down... i did replace the thermal grease on the processor, but it's still the same... could the problem be because of the connectors?

Check if your fan is moving when you power on your computer. It probably isn't powered, try to search your motherboard map (I got one with all other manuals and safety instructions) and carefully try to connect all cables.

My HP G60-230us was shutt down during my son was playing game,no power at all(LED light under charger connector is on,Power light LED/Battery light/Hard disk light are off,Please help?

OverheatingWhen the CPU overheats then it will shut down (i.e. thermaloverload) and won't boot up again until it has cooled down. If this is theproblem is not fixed then the CPU will eventually fail.
A faulty fan causes the problem or the fan and heat sink assembly are cloggedwith dust.
Check the CPU fan to see if it spins freely, if not replace the fan.
If the fan and heat sink is clogged with dust the remove the dust and make surethe vents are clear and dust free. Use a small brush and can of compressed airto do this.

Hp mini laptop goes off automatically

Maybe it is overheating or losing power.

Check the Power Cord and the DC Power Jack where the power cord plugs into the laptop.

Maybe your DC Power Jack which is where the power cord plugs into the computer is bad. Take an ink pen and push the tip inside the jack and see if the little pin wiggles, if so the jack is bad. You'll have to take the laptop apart to fix it. Most times it is soldered onto the motherboard, so you will have to desolder the old and solder a new one.

Overheating??

When the computer is overheating it will not boot back up until you let it sit a while to cool off. If your systems shuts down and does not boot right back up, then it might be overheating.

Three causes of overheating:

1) Dust - Dust inside the laptop, dust clogging the fans and vents. Dust around the cpu and heat sink. Solution - Take a can of compressed air and blow out the dust. It's best to take the laptop apart to blow it out.

2). A Fan not working. Take the laptop apart and replace the fan. Most laptops will tell you if a fan is not working.

3). The Thermal Paste around the cpu and heat sink has dried up or is too thin to keep the unit cool. Apply a fresh coat of Thermal Paste around the cpu and heatsink.

If your laptop is overheating you could buy a Laptop Cooling Pad from Tiger Direct at:

http://www.tigerdirect.com

When the site comes up just type: Laptop Cooling Pad in the search box and click GO. Sort the returned results by Price Low to High. I recommend the Sabrent for $12.99 which has 3 cooling fans and the laptop sites on the pad. The pad plugs into one of your usb ports.

Emachines t5212 overheat message then shuts down

Three causes of ovheating:
1) Dust. Dust inside the computer, Dust around the vents, fans, cpu and heat sink. Take a can of compressed air and clean the dust out of the computer.

2) A Fan not working. Make sure the fan inside the Power Supply where you plug the power cord in works. Also there is a fan that sits on top of the CPU and Heat Sink. Make sure it works. Normally the system will give you an error message if the fan is not working.

3) Thermal Paste - The Thermal Paste around the cpu and heat sink has dried up or is too thin to keep the unit cool. Apply a fresh coat of Thermal Paste on the CPU and Heat Sink.

Packard bell overheating

Computers overheat for one of the following reasons:
1. Dust. Dust in the vents, dust inside the computer, dust around the fans (Power Supply Fan and CPU Fan) and dust around the heat sink.
Remove the power cord and the case and take a can of compressed air to clean the areas mentioned above.

2. A Fan that is not working.
Remove the Power Cord, Remove the Case then plug the power cord back in and press the power button. Make sure the fans are working. Both fans, the fan inside the power supply and the fan that sits on top of the cpu and heatsink.

3. The Thermal Paste around the CPU and Heat Sink has dried up or is too thin to keep the unit clean.
There might not be screws, but latches that attaches the heat sink to the cpu. There probably will be screws to secure the fan. But you need to get them both removed then apply a fresh coat of Thermal Paste on the CPU and Heat Sink. While you're in there you might take a small flat head screw driver and turn the screw that secures the cpu and remove the cpu then put it back in (this is called reseating). Be sure to notice how the cpu was in there and don't forget to turn the screw back to secure it.

Check to make sure you have no bad capacitors. Look all inside the computer to see if any of the capacitors are busted and seeping corrosion out of them. The capacitors look like little AA or AAA battery towers but they are not as tall. They will cause a system to fail, so you might not be overheating. Most times when you overheat if you immediately try to power the system back on it will not power right back up. But if you wait a while and let the system cool off then it will power back up ( a sure sign of overheating).

A virus or infection can also shut the system down.
Go to www.google.com and in the search box type:"Download cnet Malwarebytes" (without the quotes). Download andinstall malwarebytes from the sites download.cnet/malwarebytes. When thesite opens up click on the Green Download button on the left. Do notclick the Red Download button, that's junk. When it finishes installing the GuiInterface will open up with an offer to Accept a Trial Version orDecline. CLICK DECLINE you want the totally free version. Run aQUICK SCAN. As it scans, if it finds infections the number will be inred. When it finishes scanning, click SHOW RESULTS. A notepad textdocument will open up showing you the results. You can close the textdocument and go back to the Gui Interface where you will click REMOVE SELECTEDRESULTS. The objects will already be selected for you. When itfinishes removing the objects click ok and it will sometimes reboot yourmachine.

After about minutes of running the computer just

this sounds like an overheating problem.

First thing i would check would be the CPU fan. you will have to remove the side access panel on the case to check this.
If the CPU cooling fan is covered in dust, and the spaces between the cooling fins on the heatsink (right underneath the CPU fan) are clogged with dust. it would cause this problem.
there is also a fan at the back of the computer inside the power supply that can get clogged with dust, and may possibly overheating and shutting off. if you look in the back of your computer and find where the power cord plugs in, the power supply cooling fan is right around there as well.

If there is a good buildup of dust, it would be best to have your computer professionally cleaned. Using a vaccum cleaner is not a good idea unless you are familiar with procedures of working with static sensitive components.

hope this helps

Dell e1505 When u turn on the power on, it will display the Dell logo and then automatically turn off. Is this a Hardrive issue or power issue? It booted up once the first time i plugged in and powered up.

This could be a heat issue.
Sometimes when the airvents get clogged with dust, ect. the laptop starts to overheat almost right away and will power-down.
Usually you can turn the laptop on but after just a few seconds it turns off again.
If you have a can of compressed air blow it into the vents to clean any dust, the high speed burst of air will remove any dust for you. you can get this from most computer shops.
Also this error can point to a CPU problem rather then hard drive. I have had this problem before where the laptop did the very same thing, and it turned out to be the heat plate over the CPU was no longer connected tight over the CPU causing instant overheating.
Hope this helps in some way

Asus A8V-E not start

Looking at this post, I think your Motherboard is bad.
Have you tried a different Video Card?
My other thought is the CPU is overheating due to incorrect seating of the FAN and heat sink.
Try cleaning the CPU off, and put new paste on the CPU, then re-seat the heat sink.
Be careful to make sure the anchors are pushed all the way down by slightly twisting or wiggling the heat sink.
Check for looseness.
Push down on all memory sticks to ensure they are seated all the way in.
They should click on both sides.
If it still gives you a red light, then contact the website of the manufacturer, and get an RMA number for a replacement.
