GE profile fridge making loud humming noise

Hello. I have a GE profile fridge with french doors and the pull out freezer drawer. Last night the freezer drawer did not get closed all the way. Now the fridge is making a loud humming noise and even though I closed the freezer drawer the temperature is still high in the fridge and freezer as if the fridge is now not cooling. When I pull the fridge out, unplugged it, waited an hour, removed the back panel, and plugged it back in I can hear the compressor come on and right above the back panel opening I hear the loud buzzing. If I put my hand on it I can feel vibration, but I cannot access this area of the fridge. Can you help?

The door being open so long caused warm moist air to collect and freeze inside the unit.

Take everything out, unplug it and let it thaw out for an entire day. All the frost will thaw, and probably run water all over the place so put towels down.

When you plug it back it, it should work fine.

SOURCE: Loud humming noise as fridge is running

Sounds like the freezer fan is rubbing some wires or possible some foam insulation around the fan. I would look into the freezer compartment fan and go from there. The fan Will Shut off when you open the doors. Let me know how you make out and if you need anymore help.

Thanks,
Bill

SOURCE: My ge profile fridge won't stay cold. the fridge is at 45 deg.

First things first - pull the fridge/freezer out from the wall, and look at the bottom.  You should see a metal coil somewhere - it probably needs to be cleaned.  Next, somewhere around the compressor (the big bulky thing in the bottom of the freezer) should be a fan blowing on the coil - make sure it is running.  That MIGHT have been the buzzing noise you describe - dirt on the fan blades or the fan hitting something.  Additionally, you can check the fan on the inside of the freezer - if it is stuck and/or not working, the air won't circulate properly, and you'll get pockets of different temperatures in your freezer.
Best of luck!

SOURCE: Freezer temp on GE profile

This is by design. It should be warm. This is where the heat exchanger is located to save space.

No worries.... right now it is being over-worked until it reaches operating temp.

My Maytag MFD2560HES bottom fridge is making a loud humming noise.

Any time there is the sound of humming it is important to locate where the noise is coming from. Sometimes fans wear to a point that at one speed the sound as if humming. Sometimes compressors hum with more catastrophic results. Because your model is a bottom freezer it would be a good idea to open drawer to freezer and see if the sound is from fan in freezer or if pulled away from wall is the sound the fan or compressor area? I believe I will be able to locate a service manual but I will need you to help me pinpoint the location of the loud sound so we can get the sounds back to normal. Let me know if you are able to try that and what you find, Sea Breeze
