My new wireless modem/router won't pick it up wirelessly, only with my Ethernet wire connected. I've tried 2 new wireless modems and checked all the settings. Windows Network Diagnostics sees it but says Association Status: Fail 0x00038002 Association reason code: 0x00000002 Connectable: No Reason: 0x00028006

You haven't specified if the host computer is able to access the internet. Ip Address confict can be one of the reasons why the laptop isnt able to connect and we can have a series of reasons why we have this IP Address conflict - 1) There is no wireless encryption defined. So, we have neighbors connecting to the wireless network causing IP Address conflicts. 2) The laptop is not able to renew the IP Address after the lease expires. This can mostly be resolved by restarting the computer and in certain cases flusing the TCP/IP stack. 3) There is a static IP Address assigned to the laptop in the router's DHCP range which is conflicting with the host computer. I would suggest you may initiate a chat with me or anyone else who has expertise in routers to get this successfully resolved. That would definitely save your time. Good luck

Although you have internal wireless, you are capable of attaching an external wireless device. For example, you could attached a D-Link WUA-1340 USB Wireless G adapter (http://www.dlink.com/products/?sec=0&pid=477), or, if you have a PCI port, you can use a Linksys WPC300N Wireless-N Notebook adapter (http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satellite?c=L_Product_C2&childpagename=US%2FLayout&cid=1144763513196&pagename=Linksys%2FCommon%2FVisitorWrapper&lid=1319686869B07). Either device with any brand will work just like your internal wireless. In fact, because you chose to use an external device, you may get a better wireless signal. Because internal wireless devices are inside the computer, it is more difficult to received a signal than with an external device.

Are you sure that your PC has a built in wireless function and not just a regular modem ??
If you just have a modem you will need to purchase a USB wireless interface the link below will take you to one perfectly compatible with your router.
