That mosly depends on what device is doing the formatting. Most devices use either FAT32 or in the case of Windows devices NTFS (New Technology File System) But the method of "formatting" any electronic/RAM Moery device is prety simple. The RAM memory is set with certain values so that the driver or reader can interpret the memory on the device into logical sectors or areas and reference them in an organized fashion.

What to do if Kindle is not reading memory card?

You can simply restart your Kindle fire device to fix this issue: A direct restart deals with the issue of the Kindle Fire Micro SD card not recognized. If the direct reset does not fix the issue, then you have to check your Micro SD card. There might be issues with your micro SD card.

My pad says the internal storage is almost used up...I inserted an sd card, but not sure how to get the tablet to read it so that I'm able to install more apps and games.

Good afternoon Linda!

You can view your manual here
RCA RCT6077W2 Manuals . If you go to page 10
RCA RCT6077W2 User Manual Micro usb Headphone Micro Sd it notes a couple of important caveats on the card:
  1. You can use MicroSD or MicroSDHC type cards
  2. Size limit of 32GB
  3. You are warned never to insert or remove the MicroSD card in 'On' mode (i.e. only insert/remove the card when the tablet is off)
Aside from that, it looks like things should work. To be sure on what is the root of the issue, you can:
  1. Insert your card into another device to verify that it works
  2. Format or Re-Format the card - the SD Card association has a formatting app here:
https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_4

  • Make sure the card is legit. If it was purchased, for instance, off of Ebay, or other not-so-top-tier online store, as likely as not it's a fake made in China, likely with guts from manufacturing rejects. You might, for instance, get a card marked 32Gb that actually has a 2Gb chip in it with a hacked controller that says it's 32Gb. It'll seem to work OK for a few files, and at some point will just write your files into no-where. SD Insight, a free checker app for Android phones can be picked up here

Hoping this helps!

Put in a PNY 32 micro SD card to expand memory, but doesn't seem to show available space.

sd card need to be formatted to FAT32 on a pc windows 7 and 8 don't do this any more so you will need to download a formatting tool, then format it to FAT32 and then pop it in the unit you wnat to use it with.

How do I transfer from nand to sd

Hi
If your SD card is not recognised there are possibilities:
1. The manual - I'l give the link later in case yours is mislaid - only mentions "Micro SD" up to 32Gb. Sometimes these cards can be the SDHC category and these are not always accepted in devices designed for SD only. They look identical so make sure yours doesn't say SDHC.
2. The file format on the card can be significant. It needs to be a format compatible with the phone. If you have no other data on the card, it might be easiest to see if the phone will format it.
3. Of course it might be a faulty card - can you test it elsewhere?
The link for the manual mentioned above is here:
Proscan Media Tablets eBooks ReadersInstructions Manuals Quick Start...
Its about 15th down the list and will download direct to your computer.
With regard to downloading from nand to SD card, is this essential? If you have a micro USB to normal USB, then you should be able to use a computer to take data from the nand. The nand would show up as a drive in "My Computer".
Hope this is helpful, if so would you please register that with Fixya
Cheers
