How do I tell the software to print my design using the engraver?
The engraver is on and the software is working just fine. However when you ask the software to print nothing happens. The printer however does say it is ready and connected.

Do a system restore, this will remove any updates. If the software still doesn't work it wasn't the update.
If it is the update then there's not a lot you can do about it, till Microsoft fix the problem. You could tell the Software company or Microsoft.
That's why only 20% of the population have switched to Windows 10, even though it WAS free. It's not any longer.
You can't get rid of bad updates!
To print with UV on a Fargo HDP5000 printer you first need to get a UV color ribbon: YMCFK. The part number is 84061.
After you have your UV ribbon installed you will have to load your cards and tell the printer where you want that special UV logo/design to go. The easiest way to do this is by using Asure ID Solo 7 software. This design software is made by Fargo and has a check mark box on the top where you can either turn the UV design on or turn it off depending on how you plan to create your card. Asure ID Solo 7 costs about $150 but it's very easy to use and makes the print process easier.
There is a second option which involves not using Asure ID and instead creating your UV design through Fargo's "Work Becnch". This process of creating UV designs through work bench is slow and not the most efficient but it is free.

Call the company that makes the program and explain the situation, have a magnifying glass handy to read the tiny engraved lettering in the center of the CD disk. If you have some kind of sales receipt, or other "Proof of Purchase" have it handy too. You will need to tell them, you do not have the program installed on other computers. They can create a new product key for you. This method will only work if you have a legal copy of the program.
