that wrt54 is the worst router ever made, it gets the junk award. 10/10 rated bad.
    https://www.cvedetails.com/vulnerability...

read that and stop using this very bad router.

ask now to do it correctly first and hardware and size of home are first.
    wifi loves to fail
to avoid some of this fact, we learn to do a lay out of the home (and all floors)
wifi has a very short range (unlike 5G) it can fail at 25ft if walls are dense !!!
50ft is par, but is slow at that range.
we make a floor plan then create wifi zones
    with reasonable ranges not 50ft.
the put and AP in each zone centered.
all AP are wired from far to near main router.
we use only Cat6 ethernet wire from AP to AP then to main router.

this is how your local collage is wired. wifi.
first have a plan. the buy hardware, then set it up, in THIS ORDER, not yours.

try to avoid 8 million hits other doing this wrong seen here.

WRT-54G is outdated and obsolete. It is also prone to being hacked.

think you have to connect a cable to the ethernet adapter of your desktop in order for you to connect to the wrt54g. uless you have a wireless lan on your desktop. also check your channels. and manually config your router through 192.168.1.1.......

SOURCE: Need to add Linksys WRT54G-TM wireless router with Linksys SPA 2102 phone adapter

your SPA2102-R seems to have one ethernet connection and one internet connection.
your WRT54G-TM seems to have one internet connection and 4 ethernet connections.

What you are trying to achive is; plug a ethernet cable into the ethernet connection on your SPA2102-R then plug the other end into the internet port of the WRT54G-TM

hope this helps, I have assumed that you intend to use a DSL broadband supplier not ADSL.

if you are changing service from DSL to ADSL then your WRT54G-TM needs to be first in line configured and working. then plug the internet port from the SPA2102-R into any of the WRT54G-TM ethernet ports.

SOURCE: Linksys WRT54G wireless router not compatible with Aztech modem?

Darvin, gotta love your ISP. Never fear......

if it isn't too much of a problem (knowing you have wireless setup done already), then do a factory reset on your router ** remember to copy the WEP Key if you have, or recall the PASS PHRASE so you won't have to reset all wireless devices ** Reset is located on back, you need a ball point pen to reach the reset switch.

Reset process: unplug, take ballpoint pen & insert into reset switch & plug unit back in. Sometimes tricky, but you should notice green light goes to yellow/orange upon resetting.

RESET or NOT - you want the Linksys set for ::

Connection Type - AUTOMATIC (for automatic discovery)
Router IP Address - 192.168.2.1

DCHP - ON, Addresses - 192.168.2.100 and allow 5-50 users
(for security, assign the number of DESKTOP + WIRELESS expected users +1, this way you don't get overrun without knowlege)

Take the cable from Aztech ETHERNET OUT to WAN on Linksys. (usually BLUE) (??) not 100% sure as I have the little silver pocket edition of the same Router. - power cycle (turn both DSL modem & Linksys off for 20 seconds. turn on DSL Modem, wait till it's about as ready as possible, turn on Linksys, should only take 20-30 seconds to power up & recognize.

VERIFY SETTINGS: access router - 192.168.2.1, goto STATUS. you should see IP Addressing, SubNet, DNS1 & DNS2 settings. If you do not, then you have no internet connection.

ALTERNATIVE,

Setup Linksys Router with COnnection Type: PPoE, you will need your ISP assigned ID & Password. Follow all other instructions properly.

If you still have problems, please contact me at 906-495-1707 or via Yahoo IM [email protected] or through this website.

SOURCE: Intermittent/non-existant connection with LinkSys WRT54G router

I would get a Range Expander... it sounds like you are having problems recieving a constant signal. When you do get the range expander plug the Range Expander halfway between you upstairs computers and your downstairs where your router is at. I hope this helps!!

Sincerely,

Can I move my n300 range extender once I've completed the setup? I need to plug it into an outlet closer to my patio. How do I do that?

After it is configured you can move it to any outlet as long as it can still connect wireless to your router. It saves the configuration.

I have lost the password to my lynskys /wrt54/g router, how can I retrieve it or change it?

Try http://www.linksys.com/connect and if unsuccessful, there is no way to 'retrieve' a router password. If you forget it, you will have to factory reset it

Open a web browser and enter the address "http://192.168.1.1" in the address bar.
Leave the user name blank and enter the password "admin" without quotes. This is the factory default password

When i connect all cable my Linsys wrt54 g is not workin and my indternet conction.

First, make sure that all your cables are plugged in correctly. If everything is connected correctly, the lights on the front should start blinking. Once they start blinking, you can follow the guide here:http://www.columbia.edu/acis/networks/aptnet/linksys/index.html This guide will help with setting up the router, as well as making it secure. Hope this helps!

If you mean phone modem on PC then no. Check connection between pc and router by acessing the webinterface (instuctions in linksys user manual).

If all OK there then contact your ISP.

Bridge or Repeter mode.

It is possible but you will need to flash the router with custom firmware.

Here is how:
http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Installation

This is only possible if you have two wrt54-g routers that are of one of these types:

WRT54-G ver 1
WRT54-G ver 2
WRT54-GL

(there is a sticker on the bottom that can tell you what version it is)

This is the article that I followed and it workes great.

Linksys WRK54G versus WRT54G Firmware

Hi...

The WRK54G is actually a stripped down version of the WRT54G that was bundled with a wireless network adapter and sold under the kit name WKPC54G.

From what you say in your question I gather that you have a WRT54G already in place as your access point, and it is what is connected to your WAN. To use the WRK54G as a range extender repeater you should do the following:

1. Turn off DHCP
2. Turn off NAT
3. Assign a fixed IP that is in your Class C Block
4. Define the WRT54G as the Gateway

With this configuration it now should function as an extender/repeater, and any clients connecting to it will be serviced by the DHCP on the master router.

I hope that this helps.
