remove the relay and test it across the battery ,the two big connectoprs are the fan power supply and two smaller ones are the relay ,test the smaller one across the battery and see if it clicks ,if they click then test the big ones for continuety when the small ones are connected and gone click .Simple if all ok then test for power in the big connectors in the relay holder ,one of them should read a permanant 12v supply

If it is the original transmission, you can contact the Mercury dealer (parts dept) with the V.I.N. # and they can pull it up on the computer

look in block and the cylinder head for a round metal insert ,these are the core plugs you also have a big one behind the gearbox bell housing

Find the lower radiator hose - the big one attached to the bottom of the radiator. Follow that back to the engine. It'll attach to a housing of sorts, and the thermostat is inside that housing.

its under your hood engine bay area usually on the fender. ITLL BE A LITTLE BLACK BOX. with a cover on top.open cover and you will see relays and some big fuses.

you need to remove the tank. the fuel pump is inside about 6-8 bolts. the big pain is the straps that hold the tank in try not to bend them at all.

undo the big nut in the middle

trace the big cable that came from the positive terminal of your battery. at it's end is the starter.

or if it passes trough a big relay, then there is another big cable from that relay that would go down to the side of the engine, either left or right, that would be the starter.
