SOURCE: need to clean carburetor of troy built trimmer.

Go to any auto parts store and buy an aerosol can of carbeurator cleaner. Remove the air cleaner filter and give the air intake a couple of squirts. Pull the cord and turn the engine over a couple of times to draw the cleaner into the carb. Then let it sit for an hour and dissolve what ever is gumming up your carb.

The starter recoil spring may have possibly broke or the rope is hung up somewhere on or in the pulley. A lot of these units are assembled using Torx (Star) head screws and disassembly requires a couple different sizes to accomplish. Try loosening or removing the fuel cap. If problem goes away, the vent or vent tube is partially blocked.

If problem persists, insufficient fuel flow from the fuel tank to the carburetor. Clear the fuel line from the tank to the carburetor.

How to adjust carburator on a Troy-Built super bronco tiller

Find the adjustment screws on the front of the carburetor. Then Start the engine and let it warm to normal operating.
Adjust both screws equally and find the right mixture.Bring both screws up slowly and listen until the engine purrs smoothly. Any raggedness or rattling is a sign of too lean a mixture. Keep turning until you find the sweet spot.

Choke is not hooked up to anything. What does the choke hook up to on a troy built tiller?

The choke (butterfly valve inside the carburetor) is attached to a lever on the side of the carburetor. This lever opens and closes the butterfly valve. Attach the choke cable to this lever.
