Take the filters out and turn the vacuum on, if it will stay running without the filters in it you need to replace the filters. Filters should be replaced every few months. Clogged filters still pick up some dirt but miss a lot plus it causes the motor to run hot which will cause damage to the motor reducing it's life.

Pure pro fan motor

compressed air , you might try bringing it to a electric motor repair shop or a auto shop and ask real nice if they would be nice enough to give your fan a shot of air. a weed blower will work also but not even close to the job of compressed air. last resort is to take it apart totaly and use soapy water and a scrub brush. do not get the motor wet ! and oil the bearings on the motor with zoom spout oil #D01.. and you can milk your favorite fan out for many, many years .. this way is like cheating death! ... jay the pool pump motor repair guy in longwood fl

Evcon Model EB15B Elements glow red for 3 minutes then cycles off. Fan stays off during the cycles. Manual fan switch will turn on the fan. Assistance requested, cls

the fan has to be on while the strips are on. knowing that the fan comes on when you switch it to on at the thermostat but not when your just calling for heat indicates that you have somting wrong with the heating relay or the fan isnt wired properly to the heating relay (posssibly a new motor during the summer) or just a bad relay. when the first stage heat comes on it should also energize the motor the first to come on is also the last to shut off which will make sure the fan runs during the whole heating cycle. until you remedy this you can run the heat just keep the fan switch set to on so its running, this will not hurt anything

I have an Oreck air purifier model (air 4000). The power light is on but the fan will not turn unless I put it on high speed and manually push the fan to give it a jump start for it to start running but...

I tried that solution and it did not work due to the worn bushing. I went on line to CSH incorporated and ordered #534 Open Ventilation Fan & Blower Duty motor. The motor is a ball bearing motor rather than bushing, and is an exact replacement for the Fasco motor on the original. The repair is easy and a cheap repair at cost of about $67 dollars for the motor plus shipping. The unit now works great again.

Unit hums slightly but fan doesn't turn. I cleaned dust out of unit but still no results.

Shut the power off to the unit, spin the fan blade to see if it spins freely. If it doesn't spin freely, (there appears to be a little drag when you spin it),the bearings are bad, if it does spin freely, then try moving the motor shaft from side to side if there’s any play in the shaft side to side then the bearings are worn and motor needs replaced. Then, check the capacitor, if it’s bulging even slightly, the capacitor is bad and needs replaced. Most of the time people replace the capacitor if motor seems ok. If capacitor is ok, turn power on to see if the motor is getting the proper voltage, if it is and not trying to run, then the windings are probably open, the motor's bad and needs replaced.

Fan motor changes speeds on its own.

The control component or the control circuit for the fan can be causing the speed variation, or the bearings on the thing can be wearing (or contaminated) with the same result. If you can make a test bench, look (feel with a test pad, really) for drive transistors that get hotter than they should or an inconstant power resistor or shunt.
