First, I'm not a LG tech.
* Most digital TV sets will shut down if it does not rec a video signal for about 5-10 mins. There usually is a warning; "no signal" and it shuts down after the time out. Hopefully this is the problem. Check your video connections. Pull out the cable and check for bent pins. Reconnect the plug and check if it's firmly seated. There is another possible chance that if your using a cable TV service they stopped using analog signal to the TV display. After JAN 2018 many of the cable services require you to use a High Def cable like the Yellow-Red-White RCA port or the HDMI port. Check with your cable provider when they plan to stop servicing old analog TV and only provide digital signaling. Check with them for additional upgrade or a new cable box.
* Check your warranty and call for service.
* the following is for information only (and I really mean just for information. The repairs shown in the following vids make me cridge! and I'm an electronics tech to boot.) So proceed at your own peril: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VXnFYOfRdIk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bKtAMs6MDnY

The show you are attempting watch is being broadcast or streamed at a resolution and/or refresh rate that your television will not support. It goes to black screen to protect the horizontal and vertical circuits from damage, after a certain number of attempted resets, it will display the unsupported mode until you change away from that broadcast or stream.
TV has gone into "protect mode" to do just that to protect against the damaging failure that has been detected, you will need a servicer to diagnose the failure. Good luck and Merry Christmas!
If you do not move the mouse or press any key on the keyboard it could be just going into video power save. Confirm it by moving the mouse or pressing a key on the keyboard. If the monitor comes back on, adjust the power settings in control panel and change the time for the "turn off display" to a more suitable setting.
