This is a standard problem for all Epsons sooner or later.

Your options are simple:

1. Take it to an official Epson service center and pay rather a lot of money to have the waste ink pads changed

or

2. Locate the SSC utility here:
http://www.ssclg.com/epsone.shtml
.. install and then follow the instructions for resetting and clearing the protection counter settings.

You will still need to decide what to do about redirecting your waste ink but there are plenty of resources for that if you look around google using the keywords: "epson waste ink kit"

Whatever you do, don't ignore the waste ink as it will overflow eventually.

Must use included HP "starter ink" cartridges before the CISS can work. There's a 3-button sequence [OK-Cancel-Black Button] sequence when powering on that will reset the printer and bypass the "starter ink" wall you're hitting
