Faulty brake light switch, it sits by the brake pedal, you may be able to adjust it. Are you going to do the job yourself.
if not that then it could be a short in the wiring or corrosion on a connector but not as likely as the switch
Very likely that the switch on the brake pedal shaft is stuck, fiddly but not difficult to replace. To check, switch on the ignition - don't start the engine - ask someone to watch the lights and with your hand reach down and pull the brake pedal up towards you. The lights should go out. Good luck.

Most probable cause is a poor earth on rear light cluster should be simply enough just clean all connections and put small smear of lube on connections before tightening
E brake ,please explain if this has an electric auto handbrake like a renault megane or is it all manual with a pedal on the side or a proper handbrake in the middle
Then the only thing left to check is the brake switch, which is usually located under the dash, linked up to the brake pedal itself. It's the true secret to the inner workings of the brake light. If that switch is defective, either the brake light won't come on at all, or they will stay on all the time. Either way, you either need to replace it, or maybe it just unhooked from the brake pedal and you need to fix it.
