SOURCE: We have a REFLEX Step

Hi,

I had a similar problem recently with my elliptical - it was permanently stuck in the "hard" position. In my case, it has a wheel that turns when you step, and the tension is adjusted by a pair of magnets inside this wheel assembly. These magnets are positioned near the wheel - closer for more tension or further for less tension.

The console control electronics that send a signal down to this wheel assembly. There is a little motor that pulls on a short cable to position the magnet(s).

The problem was that the cable attached to one of the magnets snapped, leaving that magnet close to the wheel, i.e. high tension. We had to have a technician order and replace the entire wheel assembly as its individual pieces are not made to be serviceable.

It sounds like your case might be similar. Maybe you only have one magnet or two. In any case, I'd look at whether the magnet(s) are moving relative to the wheel when you adjust the tension settings (you should be able to see or hear the magnets move - you might need a buddy to help).

While you may not be able to repair it yourself (you can get yourself pinched badly around these gears and mechanical elements), you will at least know what's going on so you get the right work done if you choose to hire someone.

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

SOURCE: why does the resistance on my elliptical randomly go to OFF while working out

Do this for your console Elliptical:Removethe bolts or screws securing the console to the upright assembly. Lift theconsole and confirm that the cable connections are secure. Remove the coverfrom the console's battery bay and install a fresh set of batteries. Replacethe battery cover.2
Detachthe ends of the pedals from the crank axles. Remove the left and right discshields and side shields. Inspect the interior of the base unit and locate theflywheel.3
Inspectthe flywheel as it turns. Locate the magnet installed on the flywheel. Turn theflywheel until the magnet passes in front of the nearby reed switch. Loosen thescrew securing the switch in place. Rotate the switch to reduce the gap betweenit and the magnet. Tighten the screw.4
Replace the left and right disc shields and sideshields. Reattach the ends of the pedals to the crank axles

Good luck, sincerely. G-d bless you.

Life FItness elliptical model X7 has too much resistance on startup. Prevents use for warming up.

It sounds like the resistance on your Life Fitness X7 elliptical is set too high for the machine to be used effectively as a warm-up tool. There are a few things you can try to adjust the resistance on the machine.
  • Check the user manual that came with the elliptical to see if there are any specific instructions for adjusting the resistance.
  • Check the resistance settings on the dashboard to ensure that they are set to the correct level.
  • Check the resistance adjustment knob or lever to ensure that it is not stuck or jammed in place.
  • Check the belt tension on the elliptical to ensure that it is not too tight.
  • Check to ensure that there is no debris or dust in the resistance mechanism.
  • If the issue still persists after trying the above steps, it may be best to contact Life Fitness technical support or consult a technician for further assistance.
It is also a good idea to inspect the machine overall for any damage or wear.
If all else fails, the used elliptical may have a defect or may not be compatible with your needs. You may need to consider purchasing a new one or a different model for your clients warm-up needs.

Life Fitness X3 does not turn on. So I can't set resistance nor intervals with console. Plug was checked and is fine.

follow this steps and fix it.
God bless you

  • Check power problems if the console on the elliptical machine does not light up. Make sure that the plug for the machine is secure in the outlet. If it is plugged in, ensure that the outlet is receiving power. Check the breaker to make sure it has not tripped off.
Be sure that you are using the correct adapter that came with the elliptical machine. Because different adapters are able to handle differing amounts of energy, the wrong adapter will not transfer electricity like it should. If the adapter is pinched or damaged, this could also alter its effectiveness.

  • 2
Make sure the correct adapter is being used if the resistance settings seem to be too hard or too easy. If the correct adapter is being used, reset the machine. To reset the machine, either switch the "On/Off" button or unplug the machine from the wall. Doing this will allow the device to reset itself to the default resistance. Turn on or plug the device back into the wall and retry all of the levels of resistance.

Resistance too high

Be aware that the resistance is often the part that requires repair. Resistance is managed magnetically, so often if the machine is working, but the resistance isn't setting correctly or at all, check the bolts that secure the magnets. If they are loose, the resistance will slip. If the bolts are fine, check the magnets themselves by using a refrigerator magnet and see if it is attracted or repelled by the your fridge magnet. If not, the magnets have de-magnetized and need to be replaced.
