If you have a tamper you may need to get it replaced, try this press enter key and if it takes you to a menu press set up, enter password, do you have the password? 1 alhpa alpha 66831 ( the alpha key is above the 2) then press more until you see date and time, change date and time see if this fixes tamper or press red x until you get antoher screen or press f2/f4 same time enter password and then clock change time if this does not work you need a new terminal

Verifone has a built in safe-guard against tampering. There are certain things that can cause the new Vx Series of terminals to display this error - from someone actually tampering with the terminal, to a physical drop or jarring of the terminal.
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the ONLY way for a terminal to be unlocked when displaying "Tamper" is to send it into an authorized service center. I have many of these devices in the field for customers and have dealt with this issue a few times - unfortunately, that's the only way Verifone set it up for this error to be resolved.

Well right now the credit card terminal has no programming software. What you need to do is get in contact with your merchant services number, most have a sticker on the terminal, or there is a 1800 number depending who processes your transactions. You will have to them put in a request to build a new file with your merchant number that is assigned to your business. After that file build is done you will need to download it on a dedicated analog phone line. The 1800 number can instruct you how to complete this process.
