Why won't DMR-E55GN DVD recorder finalize disc that has been recorded on?

You can try a dvd+r disc. Borrow one before buying a stack of them.

The other thing is that you may not have enough free space left to burn the finalization track; 7 1/2 hours is a lot of recordings.

Give the +R disc a try even though it says it can't use them in your documentation, a lot of users report it works anyway.

this unit has an optical-eye, not recording heads. opening the drawer then unplugging unit will expose the eye. never look into the eye when unit has power. this x-ray can and will burn your owh eyes lens&retina. good luck. clean with 90% isopropyl alcohol and q-tip. mch

Chris you were right on with the cleaning I paid $50.00 for the lens cleaning from a certified Panasonic technician and now works like brand new I have invested a total of $200 for the power supply and lens/laser cleaning but I got the unit as a gift, minor probs with unit but great dvd recorder thanks!!!
