Open iTunes and plug in your iPod. On the left sidebar there should be your iPod name (If you can't find the sidebar, go to iTunes menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar), go to your iTunes playlist and drag the songs you want to your iPod. For all of the songs, go to your iPod music library, even if you don't have songs, and on the bottom there should be a blue-ish bar. There might be a box saying "Autofill from iTunes library" click that ONLY if you want ALL songs from your iTunes to your iPod. For more Tips about iPod, you may refer to this iPod FAQ.

Install itunes on your computer. Then connect the iPod an iTunes should recognise the iPod. If not, start iTunes and search for the iPod. When paired, in iTunes click on the iPod (Left side menu) en on the top menu (not completely the top) choose Music. There you can select the music that should since with the iPod.

If there is no music, then in iTunes, open the menu left top, and click ass folders.

Choose the folder where the music is and after that you should see these folder(s) so you can select.

You also can put own MP3 music in folders and select these folders. iTunes will also since these.

SOURCE: itunes and ipod are not cooperating with me.

I bought an Ipod shuffle 2nd generation yesterday, it charged all night and orange light was still blinking. Tried listening to songs and sometimes it would play but most times wouldn't. Took it back for exchange and same problem. Then I realized the problem is not with the USB plug or computer reoconizing ipod but in the docking itself. I applied pressure on the top side of docked Ipod and bottom of docking station and the computer recognized the Ipod. Release pressure and lose connection. The problem is that the docking station and earbuds do not connect with ipod and the fixes provided by apple doesn't address or fix this problem.

SOURCE: ipod nano (unable to download music onto it)

1st answer: You may have a non-Apple product. There are lots of knockoffs of the Nano. Here is a link to check: http://reviews.ebay.com/FAKE-Apple-iPod-Nano-and-iPod-Shuffle-Exposed_W0QQugidZ10000000

Yes, he can but it would have to be done manually, meaning outside of the iTunes application. When the iPod is connected to a computer, it will show up on the desktop of a Mac as another disk drive. Be warned, as soon as you connect the new iPod to the computer, iTunes will load and attempt to sync (copy) all the songs in its library to the iPod. SOURCE: Downloading music into my ipod

For all you folks having problems downloading music onto your new iPod here's a simple solution, albeit, one that will cost you a little money, but will make you an expert.
Go to Lynda.com, a software training site. On their homepage under the heading you'll see the title LEARN BY: with several bars. Click on the arrow in the vender bar, then click on APPLE. On the next page scroll down to (iTunes) and click on iTunes 5 and 6 + iPod Essential Training. There you can watch a sample introduction of their iTunes training exercise. For a $25 dollar subscription you can get the complete training exercise for one month. They also have options for annual subscriptions as well at a steeper price tag. Or for $49.95 you can purchase the CD ROM training course.
But try the free sample course first to see if you like it. It's a great site for learning any type of software out there in a easy to understand format that allows you to take your time.
I am not affiliated with Lynda.com, but have used their site several times to learn software programs at my own pace without having to attend some school to do so, and I haven't been disappointed in their training yet.

Ipod 120 classic backs up only 231 songs

Sometimes it is easiest to start over. In the case of the popular iPod, clearing the hard drive is the easiest way to remove the files and restore the drive. The process is rather basic using the Apple iTunes software. Once your 120 GB iPod is restored, you can quickly sync all of your songs saved on your computer back onto the iPod. Properly complete the restoration process and enjoy your revitalized iPod.
Open the iTunes application on your computer. If you do not yet have the iTunes application, you can download it from Apple's website for free. From there you can easily download and install it. Open the folders on your computer which contain your saved music files and drag and drop them into iTunes. If prompted to convert to M4a, select "Convert." Connect your 120GB iPod to the computer using the provided USB cable. Click the "Restore" button on the main screen in iTunes, then click "Restore" a second time once prompted to initiate the restore process. Click the "Next" option, then "OK" once the restoration is complete. Your music will no longer be on your iPod, but will remain in your iTunes library. Click the "Sync" button on the bottom left side of the iTunes screen to sync the music library with the iPod.

Download music to ipod

In order to put music onto your iPod, follow these steps:
1. Download iTunes from http://apple.com/itunes. iTunes is used to manage your music library, as well as handle the transfer of music from your computer to the iPod. 2. Install iTunes. 3. Add music to your iTunes library by selecting the 'File' menu at the top of the screen, then clicking 'Add music to library'. Browse your computer for music files and click 'Choose' in the dialog box. 4. Connect your iPod to your computer with the included Dock Connector cable. iTunes will recognize the iPod and walk you through setting it up and transferring music.

I have a new laptop... I am trying to download music from my computer to my ipod. I think I am missing some kind software to make this happen.

If you do not have iTunes already downloaded onto your new laptop then you need to download it before you can put music from your computer onto your iPod.
Go to this link http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ to download iTunes (free). Once it is downloaded, you have to import your music that's on your computer onto your iTunes. This will take a while if you have a lot of music.
After that is done, you will be able to plug your iPod into your laptop and iTunes should recognize it and from there you'll be able to put your music onto the iPod.
Remember though, after you format your iPod to a PC you cannot plug it into a Mac (or Mac then to a PC) to put music on it, as it is already formatted to one and if you want music from the other you will have to reformat it which causes you to lose all of your music currently on it.
Be sure that the computer you are formatting it to (PC or Mac) is the kind you will be using for music at all times.
I hope this helps :)

Being 58 years old bought a nano ipod for my wife want to put music on it dont understand what to download to be able to use it ?

The first thing that you should do is download itunes from the apple website at www.apple.com/itunes once installed open up itunes and then plug in the supplied usb cable into the ipod and the other end into your computer. From itunes you can then go onto the apple store and buy music from the store or if you have music on CDs you can use itunes to pull the CDs onto your computer and from itunes and clicking on the devices section you can transfer the music onto your ipod. Hope this helps.

Need instructions on downloading songs onto IPod Shuffle

First you'll need iTunes, download it here free. Once you have installed iTunes, plug your iPod into your computer, then start up iTunes(it may start up on it's own). You will see your iPod under devices on the left side of the iTunes window, click it. If you bought your iPod brand new, then you will have to set up and register your iPod, it's a very fast and easy process. Now you need to put all your music into your iTunes library, if you have music on a CD, then insert your CDs into your disc slot, iTunes will ask you if you want to rip your music to your library, say yes. Once you have moved all your music to your iTunes library, your iPod will automatically be synced with the music you have added.
Hope this helps!

Sharing the music on one ipod classic on to another

I also had this problem. Bought a classic ipod and I wanted to transfer music and movies from my ipod 3rd gen. You would think that it could be done from the itunes - but no! You can't take stuff from the ipod and put it back onto your computer. So I eventually downloaded a software application called COPYGEAR. I found it on google and it was about the 8th application I downloaded and it worked. You only get a trial version for free but I only needed to use it the once. I hope this works for you.

Advice about ipod 80gb classic

YOu should use itunes. LIMewire is only trouble. The majority of hard drives and ipods i have to repair is because of the unfiltered garbage coming thru limewire. Now ipod will play universal formats, and you will need itunes to load music onto the ipod anyway as limewire cannot do that.
